Based upon reading CF, it seems that many of the math profs are bad. It appears that my son got lucky in his Calc 1 class and has a prof with great reviews. Same with his English 250 prof. I am relieved at this. His Econ 101 class still has no prof assigned.

Math professors are fine as long as you take advantage of recitation and study sessions. The only times I had trouble with my "bad" (euphemism for foreign) professors was when I got lazy and expected to just show up to lecture and learn everything.

Also, just to give some unsolicited advice. Your son, should he switch from design, is going to need to figure out on his own what he wants to study. My sister and several friends in college all had "helpful" parents trying to steer them into majors they thought they would like and be successful in. Without fail this just led to more years in school until the folks backed off and the kid actually had to think for themselves. Just my 2 cents.

Couldn't agree more. ISU students are afforded MANY opportunities outside of class to get extra help. It's on your kid to make the effort.

Ehhh.... It depends on if they want you to submit assignments online or not. Maple TA was awful and why I quit Calc II.

My roommates, who had already taken the course and passed, said every answer was correct, but the program didn't accept the code I was typing in, and when I went to show the professor, he just told me he didn't have time to look at it. That, or he thought I had someone else do it for me.

I never did an online math class so I can't speak to that.
