So if these averages hold up we as a 3 could faces possible 6 seeds Ohio st. Or UCLA fighting Steve Alford's.

Is it just me or is Villanova dominating the Big East overvalued. I don't think they are a bad team, but not sure why they are given so much love, that league is not what it used to be. Go look at their standings and tell me what team ISU would not want to play on a neutral court.

They beat a very young (at the time) Kansas team, they beat Iowa which both of those are good wins. Lost their only other game vs a ranked team in syracuse, and got **** pounded at home by Creighton.

Also shouldn't that 8 seeding by some moron be excluded from the Matrix? I mean seriously I can see ISU being some East coast 20 best team, but really only a top 32 team. We have been ranked most of the year, have more quality wins than everyone in the country but a handful of teams, our worst loss was at Oklahoma.

I think for 'Nova it's the number of losses and the two victories you mentioned. They don't have a bruising conference schedule like the BigXII has. Maybe the voters still think they're in the "old" Big East.

Nova got 2 good wins in a single weekend in November. Since then they've won out vs. mediocre teams and lost to both ranked teams they've played. Hard to accurately rank but 6 in AP and #2 seed in tourney seems high. If we get a 3 I'd be pretty happy to have Nova be the 2 in our bracket.

How relevant can a ranking be that has ISU #44 like 7OT does? In that poll they have an 8-loss Tennessee team ranked 22.

I asked them how they could have ISU ranked #13 and still an 8 seed. Here is the response:

Thanks for reading and taking the time to write. Something we do a little differently than others when it comes to our bracketology is that we project where we think the team will end up when all is said and done, not where they deserve to be right now. Obviously Iowa State had a great showing in non-conference play, but we’re still not convinced they are going to be above .500 in the tough Big 12. Oklahoma State and their recent troubles is another example of our projections changing the seed over where a team deserves to be. Since I had a hand in that bracket, I do know that Iowa State was moved from the seven line in order to fit them into that region correctly.

Interesting, but I don't see us falling that far. I think we get a 6 seed at the lowest unless we completely lose our focus and lose out.
