A. The linebackers aren’t the only ones who can use a bye week. John and Eric didn’t think that Big Citrus was going to play, and pretty sure that JR is dinged up too.

B. One of the players this week made a revealing comment that they aren’t actually trying to rush the passer as often as fans think they are.
Yeah, Big Citrus was not announced as a starter. Then when most were warming up together in the South end zone he was in front of us, at about the north 30 yard line in uniform but just doing some stretching stuff for his legs. He did play but clearly not 100%.

Just watched this game again

This is just not a game many teams can win.

Unreal. Just unreal.
Did so myself late last night. The poor spots by the officials were more egregious this time around. 7:45 to go in 2nd half Rocco slides at the 33 & initial placement is at the 32, which the announcer validates (& actually stated it looked like the 33 but the official spots at the 32). Then the offense comes to the LOS & the official at the last instance places at the 31 & you can hear the crowd reaction questioning the last second adjustment. A 3rd & 1 becomes a 3rd & 4 & Rocco gets sacked. Huge impact on the game at that point.

Otherwise, the 2 offensive possessions prior Rocco simply missed open guys for 1st downs & potentially even larger plays. Craziness of this particular game & how things could have transpired way, way differently.

Think there were about 3 slides in the game where they spotted his slide about 3 yards short. Understand the start of the slide, but just horrible spots.

I think Rocco stopped sliding after the third one.

Still able to reverse suplex Harvey with 3:37 to go in the 2nd quarter (hadn't blown the whistle but in today's game maybe lucky BC wasn't flagged).
Sure hope this bye does him well.

That happened at the UCF game. I was sitting in section U near the student section. There were numerous times that someone threw stuff down to the lower level. Eventually a cop came up and stood facing the crowd.
I sit in the front row of section U near the students. Drives me crazy how many will come up the wrong stairs and walk across us before the game! They go bye saying, "Sorry" and the guy next to us always replies back, "no you're NOT!!"

Another site this week regarding security/ushers. One actually came over when noticed someone drinking a beer in our section. He allowed the guy to chug it before confiscating the empty can.

Duh!
I saw 3-4 students being cited by police and i wasn't even looking for it. First time, I've seen more that 1.

Last noteworthy things from watching 2nd time:

14:11 left in 4th quarter, Rocco runs to the 33 then rolls to the 34 (doesn't slide). Spot is at the 31. 3rd & 4 instead of 3rd & 2 & while lining up you see Rocco shrug his shoulders, "what?" when they announce the down & yards to go. Thankfully in this case he runs for the 1st down the next play; however, the crazy interception follows 2 plays later.

9:48 on the 10 yard line after Noel's big catch, Sama III was in on the play action. After that only RBs in were Jackson & Miller. We played a lot of empty backfield, too.

Don't recall Ellis playing the entire game, but 2nd & 11 & he doesn't give up on the play & as Harvey spins out of a Verdon tackle he makes the stop after just a 2 yard gain.

When 4th & 6 with 1:55 remaining, cameras pan to Malzahn & you see the woman from the Tyson Chicken commercials on his staff following him around. Busy gal.

2nd & 2 with 1:35 & Rocco's begins slide at 32.5, official marks at the 31. It was a 1st down but still horrendous.

@1:11 2nd & 12 UCF brings a blitzer & Jalon Jackson takes him out along with another defender, Noel gets 1st down catch.

Back Judge was most consistent official on the PI - he made prior call in the end zone & the one on Higgins just outside late was more blatant.

Becht's run before the TD run, 1st time watching thought maybe RB Miller flinched, but he just reset his hand in the dirt, so no "whew" there.

Always thought Mr Brightside was one of the best songs of the 21st Century, but think I like it even better now.

We saw a lot of waterbottles being tossed down from the upper deck in the student section and we sit over in section 2. I was like "great we are going to get hit with a penalty."

James Neal was playing LG between Travis and Hufford. I freaking LOVE IT. Rocco ran right behind him for the game winning score.
Yeah and we were incredibly lucky we weren't called for illegal procedure on that touchdown play. Someone on the left side (Neal?) jump so early he was already in the end zone when Rocco received the snap.

Watching the replay, the refs screwed us out of a yard or two every time Becht ran the ball and slide. The mark should be where he starts his slide, they always marked it further back, costing us a yard or two.
Overall they were just a poor crew or had a horrible game, they allowed UCF to push and shove our WR's all night long and did not call it until the end. They allowed UCF to tackle well out of bounds and never called a late hit, even though many were 4 or 5 yards past the out of bounds line.

This is one of those where ISU needs to call the league and have them review the tape, these are not judgement calls for the most part, and they missed a lot of them.
