So you admit he did break the old record? Or am I wrong and you can name another AD who holds the record.

In Nebraska, they would have said not to let Bill Callahan know it was a record or a streak, since he seemed to break them all.
Jamie broke the record? How many tickets did he buy? Personally, I give credit to our fans. Who by the way, never get the credit we deserve. I am sure Jamie doesn't know how lucky he is -- how many fan bases would be buying 30,000+ season tickets at the prices we pay with the crap we have been served for the past 2 years? Not many.

agree. you take a lot of crap monty, but I find myself agreeing with you more and more as days go by. I'm sorry but the season ticket sales CANNOT be attributed to the AD. Only to US, Cyclone fans, period. We may not have a 110,000 stadium like a Michigan or have the largest fanbase in the country, but no one can question are dedication overall as fans. For last years performance we prolly should have had about 25K in the stands at best. But we had over that JUST as season ticket holders. We show up as well for a 2-10 team as KU does for a BCS bowl game team in similar size stadiums. Hopefully its another year where any given saturday we can expect 50K in JTS and even more outside enjoying the best tailgating around.
So... JP takes all the blame for every single bad thing that has happened... but he DOESN'T get a shred of credit for the single highest season ticket sales in the history of ISU football?

ISU owes you nothing more than to try and put the best product they can for the Budget they are given. You want a guaranteed "Wining" program step up and give tons of Money, (ask how this is working for Mr. Buffet, with his Billions) don't just by tickets. Ticket sales cover a minimal cost of running the event your watching. That includes the facility, security, service personnel, up keep, maintenance, improvements, Athletic Scholarships, equipment, Coaches, Staff, Medical, Administrative, promotional, advertising, utilities, ect....
Sure you pay for concessions, parking, tickets and the Cyclone Club, but you get a product in return in food, convenience, entertainment, and recognition.
Penn State average Football ticket $50 bucks in a 100,000 + seat Stadium. ISU's average ticket $30 in a 55,000 seat Stadium. Jamie Pollard is doing the best he can with what you give him to work with.

We broke the record by a hair because of a bunch of hype about a new coaching staff. It was a one year thing. If you didn't notice, season ticket sales declined in 2008. It appears they will decline again in 2009. If you credit Pollard for a one year blip in ticket sales, do you blame him for two subsequent years of decline?
I don't care about a one year blip. I want to see a sustainable increase. Not a temporary one based on false hope and unfilled promises.

Credit for what? Creating false hope that sold a record number of tickets for one year, followed by multiple years of declining sales? Woo.
You can have a ball five years from now sitting around remembering that Jamie sold a lot of tickets in 2007.
I think this is what bugs me the most about some of the anti-Pollard crowd. They just will absolutely not give him credit for anything. I can see why people don't agree with everything he has done. However anybody who thinks he has done absolutely nothing right really lose a lot of credibility, at least with me.
Personally I like most of what he has done and am willing to wait to see some results. He is certainly the person most responsible for our increase in ISU athletics spending. We always had season tickets, but the court-cyd, mat-cyd, and club section renovation were all done under his watch and they certainly caused us to give more money.
and we are still selling more tickets now than we did before JP, even with the declining sales.
You have already said that JP should not be credited for our bowl in 2005, so by that logic he should not be responsible for attendance either. In 2005, we were returning the majority of a bowl team and were picked to finish 2nd in the North. We averaged 46,705 per game. Last year we came off a 3-9 season and averaged 47,429.

So you have changed the subject from season tickets to total attendance? Because last year's season ticket sales were less than 2005, 2006, or 2007? Total attendance was high because we added the mini-paks late in the game, sold an unlimited number of hillside seats, and practically gave away tickets to the Missouri game. Like I said, I give Jamie credit for creating a bunch of false hope and selling a record number of season tickets in 2007. I hope someday we have an AD who can create a sustainable increase that is based on more than false hope.

Really, I never remember hearing the total season ticket sales numbers which is why I have attendance. How would you know that? I'm guessing it is speculation, if it's not speculation then give me the numbers and your source!
The way see it, Jamie Pollard hired the hottest coordinator in America. Chizik is more responsible for this "false hope" than anyone. I have NEVER seen this site as excited as when Gene Chizik was hired as the football coach. Ever. Hell, WE'RE responsible for this hope. Not Pollard. The mistakes Pollard has made is putting too much faith in these coaches and giving them automatic extensions. If you want to ***** about false hope, blame the man WHO ACTUALLY HAD CONTROL OVER WHAT HAPPENS ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD. That would be Gene Chizik, and Dan McCarney before him. Pollard's made mistakes, but so often people on this site blame him for things he doesn't have much control over...
How many season tickets would we be selling right now if Dan McCarney was still around??? My guess after the major under-achieving with Blythe and Meyer as Jrs, no too many people would be in the stands.
The Kansas game Dan's final year was the biggest joke attendance wise I've seen. The weather was great for mid fall, and the stadium had probably 15,000 in it.
So for the Pollard haters... If he didn't do what he did... Where would we be now?? Even worse off perhaps...

Jamie never released the numbers except for the one year. In fact when he appeared on Soundoff, Murph and Andy pressed him for it and he wouldn't say. Murph and Andy made it pretty clear that he was witholding the number because sales were down and Jamie wouldn't respond. It's typical of the way he operates. When something good happens, it's "look what I did". When something bad happens, we don't hear from him. Don't expect to see season ticket sales numbers again until they exceed the 2007 total.
I only wish Jamie appreciated ISU fans more. Look at Minnesota. They sit in the middle of a huge population center and if they put up consecutive seasons with 4, 3, and 2 wins, they would be selling 10,000 season tickets and would have 20,000 people at games. Heck, that's happened there after 5 and 6 win seasons. I don't think Jamie knows how damn lucky he is to have this fan base.
I'm still dizzy from the "revelation" that Jamie gave Chizik a two-year extension towards the end of last season. This, after two awful years.
That has shaken my confidence in Pollard more than anything.
