We ran a lot of zone read in the first game and used our speed to burn them.... Especially at QB.

Did we ever run the zone read with Richardson in the last three games? If you watch the first game, the play style with Richardson vs Jantz is way different, thus I can see why three weeks of prep with Sam, makes it difficult to switch to Steele.

The rain killed our speed vs the first game.

Over the season, I think the zone read turned more into regular hand offs because it seemed like less rushing was done by our QB. Steele was taking it a bunch in our first 4 games. I think when the switch was made back to Steele mid season the zone read was tweaked to just be a straight hand off and QB only takes it if he sees a lane. Sam ran in his games but it never seemed to be more than the RBs.

The rain had little to do with speed. Ja'Terian Douglas absolutely murdered us with speed. The first time we played we controlled the trenches after we got settled in. We got absolutely destroyed in the trenches this time around.

Richardson ran the zone read really well against WVU. They ran it just a couple times against Tulsa and Richardson looked ******.

It appeared, due to his sickness, that they didn't want him running much.

Usually when a run in our system appears to be a regular hand off it is some form of a run pass option. Depending on the quarterbacks strength, this is still a way to utilize the running game out of the spread without a strong running quarterback. Okie State did more run pass options with Wes Lunt or Brandon Weeden but with J.W. Walsh it is oftentimes more a typical zone read.

Couldn't agree more. CPR also noted that in post game press conference that it all starts up front on both sides of the ball, both of which were non existent for the bowl game.

I'm sitting here watching my recording of the game now that I'm home. The officiating is absolute BS! The Tulsa line is holding over and over and not getting called! I've counted three late hits and an arm to the head that wasn't called and one fumble that was clearly recovered by ISU! Officiating wasn't BS in the first game! These officials just have something against ISU in this game. The two late hits were legit and just f'n stupid.

But, Sunshine's play at QB was pretty poor and not due to O-line. He just plain missed receivers. And the ones that did hit the receivers clearly surprised them because they couldn't catch a cold.

Cody Green threw the ball 49 times in the first game, that cost us the game.

Congrats, DirtyDanchez. Your guys looked pretty good. Not only did Cody Green threw too much in the first game, he was totally out of sync (Willie Carter was 0 yards for 10 throws to him). I was sorry to see them take your advice and stick to the run.

And you put the ball on the turf 3 times this game, but got them all back. I was hoping one would bounce our way.

Honestly, we need to hold more, so maybe we should take notes. If you are not holding, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage. Most games our problems on the OL were not about getting pushed around as much as maintaining blocks.

I thought Jensen's PF was a weak call- those types of hits happen several times in every game without being called.

If they would've had their LB playing the first game, ISU might not have gone bowling.

I thought Sam was pretty good until the big hit, which seemed to shake him, and then I found out he had the flu to boot. Two key plays that could have changed the game were when Sam threw deep to an open Horne, and he inexplicably slowed down and the ball sailed six feet over his head. I don't know if he lost site of the ball or what, but that could have been a td had Horne stayed on his pattern. Brun also dropped a ball that hit him in the hands when he was wide open in the flat, and he may have scored. If our receivers make those plays, I think we win and everybody is saying what a great QB Sam is.
