Does anyone have good tips for using the parent pass with Jr Cyclone Club? Do most people crowd towards certain places (front, sides, etc)? Is there anything you can bring like a blanket? Do people just stand? When the ball is on south endzone side, can you still see the scoreboard ok? Do people ever try just watching from the concession areas or other standing room locations? If other fans leave do any people just try to fill up seats on the upper level or are the staff sticklers for checking tickets?

The stadium will be full for most of the games so finding spots will be tougher. They changed the hillsides this year so sight lines should be better. The south scoreboard should be easy to see when the ball is near either end zone.

I don’t like the sticklers comment. If you want seats in the stands PAY for them. Wow. Entitled much?

Really? By doing this it’s pretty much stealing from the university. I’m just letting them know… they shouldn’t do that. Shouldn’t even cross your mind.

How the University offers this you dips hit.

I haven’t sat on the hillsides, but with the stadium changes the view from the hills should be good. The website says blankets are allowed in the stadium.

Plan on getting there early and stake out your spot, be sure to bring a blanket. This weekend will be good practice for next weekend when it will be packed.
You should be able to see the game on the South endzone score board when the action is occurring in the South side of the field.
If you have small kids the North endzone is a great place to allow them to roam around and play, while you watch the game. Then in a few years, you move up and get seats.

Have fun and Go Cyclones.

I think the hillsides are a little bit of an unknown right now. It used to be that if you were anywhere close to the Jacobson, you couldn't see much of the field. But now with the retaining wall there, you should have a decent view no matter where you are on the hillside. Still, anything on the south side of the 50, you're probably watching the SEZ video board more than the field. As far as moving seats, you can usually get into the upper levels of the student section if you want. It's general admission and the students usually crowd the lower sections leaving some seating open at the top. But be prepared to witness some drunken debauchery.

Been awhile but unless you can stand for 4 hours on a slope comfortably than you should bring at least one blanket and probably a couple more to use as cushions.

The UNI game will be a test run for the space available on the hillsides. Bring a blanket per kid (they can't share anything for 3 hours) and one for the adults. It will be pretty tight for the Iowa game and unfortunately will have a large Hawkeye representation if two years ago is any indication. Expect to stand for more of that game. After the Iowa game, expect quite a bit of space the rest of the season. It's nearly impossible to see the field from concessions areas, would never think of trying to watch a game from there. Watching the scoreboard from the hillsides is effective. Closer to the actual stands obstructs the view. Expect to see numerous kids playing ball, running, tackling, etc...

Remember when hillside tickets would go for $15 a piece?
The kids pass runs $11.50/game. For a family of five (2 adults+3 kids), it averages out to $20/game.

We'd get there when the stadium opened, 1.5 hours before kickoff just to get a seat on the retaining wall in the NW corner. Father-in-law and I would have seat cushions for us and blankets on the ground in front of us for the daughter and her friends.

I don't think tipping is necessary on the hillsides. campbellPirate.png
