Tim Floyd Resigns From USC

The bad part is what he did goes on all over in college BB and other coaches dont get in trouble for it.

Too bad Tim's ego exploded and he got overly greedy. He could have stayed here and we'd been a consistant sweet sixteen entrant and occasionally better. Regardless, he's still a great coach and I'll always love him. The 97 team is one of my all time favorites and one of the best in ISU history. The grass isn't always greener.....

Floyd will need to go be an assistant in the NBA at this point.

Tim has enough money he doesn't have to work if he doesn't want to. He could take some time off and wait for what he wants. Some small college or a school needing the pub (think I. Thomas) will take a flier on him in a couple of years if thats what he wants to do.

Resigned? I bet he was asked to leave. I wouldnt want to keep him around when he is the center of all the money scandals with recruits.

I won't ask for those that called me out for saying Tim was slimy to apologize. But I won't turn down the apology either

I have said all along that he was never that great of a coach. Even at Iowa State, he took a lot of chances on very questionable players and it came back to bite him

I disagree. Tim Floyd is the best coach and recruiter in ISU BB history. He raised ISU basketball up a couple levels big time with production, i.e. road wins and our first Big 8 conference tourney championship, not just home court enthusiam. He did have a lot of player turnover after it was well known he would be the next Bull's coach, however, not nearly the player turnover of our current BB coach who has a poor production level.

This is your life Tim Floyd.....

Why is it that Floyd is getting in more trouble for this incident than the football team when they had a bigger problem with Reggie Bush just go away?

There is a reason Arizona did not hire him, he did not turn it down they knew this payment scandal was going to come out. The OJ Mayo thing is going to get ugly. This is along the lines of Todd Bozeman..

Not saying your wrong but can you support this theory, everything I saw said he turned it down to stay at USC

Oh boy... I can't wait for Monty to get here. :jimlad:

Yeah this is a big surprise to any of us who lived through the constant player turnover, recruiting over players the 6-year graduation rate of 6%, and recruits like Kenny Pratt. :jimlad:

Tim got away with a lot in Idaho, New Orleans, and Ames because fans were willing to look the other way and he was not coaching a high profile team in a big media market like Los Angeles. He should have left LA a year ago -- he stayed there one or two years longer than his typical coaching job, and it was his undoing. Just the way I predicted, I might add.

I too am shocked that Tim was recruiting shady.

He never did this kind of stuff at ISU.:jimlad:

Tinsley was the KEY player and he was not Floyd's player. If Floyd stayed and we had Heinrick instead of Tinsley there would not be two Big 12 championship banners hanging in Hilton.

Wrong and wrong. Best coach is LE and how is Floyd the best recruiter? A lot of his players either A)never made it on campus, or B) he ran them out of town after a year or two

Road wins? He went 0-8, 4-4, 3-4, and 2-5 in Big 12 road games during his career. That is 9-21 total. Not that good

People say that LE won with Floyd's guys but yet the dismiss Floyd winning with Orr's guys. I will take LE's 2 Big 12 Titles, coach of the year, 32 wins, and Elite 8 over Floyd any day of the week

This. ^^^^

Floyd inherited a senior laden team with two future NBA picks plus Michalic who went to Europe. He also inherited one of the best home court advantages in the country.

LE inherited Fizer and ???. Those 2 years worth of Bulls rumors were too much for any recruiter to overcome. Even for a guy that tried to bring in 8 players in one class. (I think 4 made it to campus).

LE took average players and made them play above their abilities.

In Tim's defense, I absolutely loved his in-game strategy. He raised expectations with his 24 win seasons and he was a last second layup away from going to the elite eight himself. The Big Eight was also VERY tough back then.
