Tennessee and Arkansas aren't there at this time. If you include them than you have to include Texas Tech and Mizzou from the Big 12. Those teams are EXACTLY the same. And than you throw Okie State in the mix too.

Winning the SEC in football is tougher than winning the Big 12. When was the last time A&M football did something awesome in this conference?
At any rate, if they want to go, so be it. No sense in fretting over it. If this conference is on a short leash, I'd rather the implosion happen sooner than later.

I'd like to take a different spin with this realignment. I realize it makes its bed with football but do you think this is going to affect Fred's recruiting at all? I know it doesn't appear as though it has but I could see it being a legitimate concern. Now, if they stuck with 9 teams I like our chances with a 16 game round-robin schedule down the road.

Its always been PR for Texas.. They want to get exactly what they want but not look like the bad guy
If A&M is out the door.. History will remember A&M starting the superconference movement, that pr blight isn't on their hands
Because A&M in the last decade hasn't been able to compete in the Big 12, a much less deep conference than the SEC, with all of that in-state talent you claim.
Georgia? Georgia went 6-7 last year. You are crazy if you think Georgia would beat A&M, and Tennessee for that matter who also went 6-7. I'm not saying A&M will be very successful, but they are better than those two programs.
If A&M goes to the SEC, and UT goes to the Pac 10, then A&M would likely move up a lot in the minds of Texas athletes. If you have grown up a fan of the Big 12 and that no longer exists, the SEC would seem to be a bigger pull than the Pac 10, IMO. UT would still play OU every year, which would mean something to Texas athletes, but A&M playing Bama, LSU, Auburn and Arkansas every year would be pretty enticing. OTOH, if A&M could become a laughing stock in the SEC too.
Agreed....The SEC is a tough conference no doubt about it. There are teams from other conferences that have good records vs SEC teams. Some of the reforms that are on the way will impact the SEC more than any other conference. A&M will be able to compete in the SEC.
No doubt they've been down. Tons of programs have rough spots. I'm no A&M fan and also realize that the SEC is the premier conference but let's not act like it's going to be impossible for A&M to win. They're just as good this year as any other SEC school not named Alabama
In the Big 12 I'd say A&M had a 20% chance of playing the title game each year and a 10% chance of winning the conference. In the SEC there is no chance they have over a 10% chance of winning the conference or even getting to the title game in any given year. They will lose at least two games playing an SEC schedule each year and in most years they will lose 3 or 4 conference games.

Everyone pledged to the conference under the guise that the LHN was only going to air one Texas game. After everyone pledges, the LHN announces they want to air high school games and a second football game.
The Southwest Conference was a crooked, dirty league and the Texas schools have carried those dirty, crooked, egos with them to the Big 12.

Well, assuming that the SEC keeps with geography for divisions, I don't care if aTm is better than a lot of teams in the SEC East. That's not the division they'll be in. They'll be in with 'Bama, Auburn, LSU, MSU, and Arkansas. That's brutal.
Regardless, aTm wouldn't have made the title game had they been in the SEC last year. They would have been lucky to win 7 games, total, last season had they been in the SEC
