The Costco Thread

Our membership fee pays for itself in about 2 months just from Dannon triple zero yogurt, peanut butter, and olive oil
Oh - and for the love of everything - if you shop there a lot, get the Executive Membership. The cash back pays for the membership itself (and then some).

How could I forget gas (usually 10 cents/gallon cheaper) and contacts?
Couldn't agree more, Im pretty sure we got a $350 check back this year for the executive membership, plus we got about that much back from the Costco credit card as well.

They are a looser fitting light weight short. I love them and they have plenty pf room for activities.
Did you find these Puma shorts at the Ankeny Costco? If so, when was this? I was just there and couldn’t find any Puma shorts??

I'm envious of all of you that have Costco available to you. They almost built here in Rogers, AR last year, even had a lot picked out where they wanted to build, before getting cold feet and pulling the plug on the whole idea. People here were excited for them to come in and ready to drop their Sam's Club membership in a heartbeat in favor of Costco so it was a huge disappointment when they backed out. I guess they just didn't want to deal with competing against Walmart/Sam's Club in Walmart's backyard but they would've been successful here despite that.

Well now you can get one pack for basically the same price as you use to get two.
Not really, because you had to purchase 2 packs of the 6, while they allow you to purchase one of the 8 pack, the price for the 8 pack is the same as the 6 larger ones, but I only have to purchase one not two. So it's now roughly $7 dollars for the 8 as opposed to $14 for the 12.

Contacts, paper products, bottled water, always make time to go through the snack section, and we actually purchased a mattress through Costco. Not to mention the gas.
We bought a Sealy mattress, online. Delivered right to our door. Had it about 45 days when Mrs. ISU decided nope, don't like it. So I called them, they sent three guys out to pick it up. No questions asked. I ordered a different one, they delivered it. We love it. Full refund on the first one. Can't beat that!

They weren’t $14 they were eight or nine.

Croissant rolls

If you haven't tried them, you can thank me later
Are they just the normal Pillsbury fridge kind or something else?

Since I can’t make through the store, I look online and then have my wife FaceTime me when she’s at the areas I need to look at (ie meds).

We’re the kind of people that don’t like fancy foods so we get their mashed potatoes rather than the box powder stuff as much as possible. Cheap and easy to add to my BBQ meatloaf, chicken and noodles, meatballs, or beef. Their leftover rotisserie chicken works amazing for cooking bulk chicken noodle soup.

Haven’t been able to use the smoker in 2 years but this year going to have it moved to our deck outside our kitchen. I can do the prep for the most part, so I just need to train my wife on exactly how I like to handle, place, etc the brisket so she can do the lifting, filling hopper, etc as I track temps remotely. Costco is/was our go to for that. Guessing prices are too high right now.

We bought my mom her hearing aids there. Excellent quality and very good people helped her.
We went a cheaper route but I’ve heard* great things about their hearing aids and support. *Pun not intended.

If you take allergy medicine (like Claritin) the membership is worth it for the generic versions of those medicines alone. 365 pills for about $12. Hell, even if you want to buy the name-brand it's still way cheaper than anywhere else.

I’m jealous of all of you shopping at Costco and Sam’s club while I’m stuck with a BJs.

That’s their business model. They have agreement with suppliers that they will have let’s say 5% returns allowance.
When suppliers ship items, they would immediately charge 5% off the invoice from supplier.
At the end of the “Program”, they would audit and if the returns are below the agreed rate, they would keep that allowance. If the returns are above the agreed rate, they would go back to the supplier and ask for more.
That’s why their return policy is so good for customers

Costco is the same price or more on produce than Aldi, sometimes better quality sometimes worse. Both are much better than Walmart Hy-Vee or Fareway.

I've seen it posted in this thread that Ankeny Costco isn't busy, and that scares me. Every time I've been there its a ******* disaster scene including 100s of people in the center of the store going through piles of clothing like it's a recycling center in Bangladesh. I'm fine paying a little more to go somewhere that doesn't make me feel like I just went through a battle arena of Karen's just to make it back to the crazy long checkout line.
