Does anyone else ever go back for a second helping of a sample?

Is there some sort of unwritten rule there?

When I do it I get the first sample, then walk around a bit (maybe to another sample station, maybe not) and circle back around as I assume plenty of other folks have gotten to enjoy the tasty miracle fresh out of the toaster oven.

I don't think I would ever test the sample ladies at WDM. They are all grumpy AF. They were sampling like 4 or 5 different Queso Mama dips a couple weeks ago and people just kept bouncing from one flavor to another and you could tell those old birds were getting irritated as hell.

I need to get myself into the right mindset to enjoy shopping at Costco. Going to Costco, especially on a Saturday, is like a trip to the demolition derby at the county fair and a Easter Egg hunt all rolled into one. Start out by grabbing yourself a pop and a hotdog. Then get yourself a cart. Embrace the chaos as you dodge people pushing shopping carts loaded up with over a hundred pounds of stuff as you search for where they moved that item you are looking for. All the while keeping an eye out for those major traffic jams surrounding the really good free samples. Nothing matches the trill you get after successfully completing your second swoop and scoop run on those free bagel bites or protein bars that actually taste good. Then treat yourself to some soft-serve ice cream before you depart as a reward for surviving another shopping competition.

Honestly, my biggest gripe with going to Costco on the weekend is the number of old people. They are in NO hurry and are always just in the way. You had all F'ing week to get your stuff, get the **** out of my way, I have other things to do! Also, I swear they just buy stuff to buy it. Costco is almost an addiction for old people. My dad falls into this category and it's insane the crap he comes with.

Y'all did convince me to get the Costco Credit Card after looking into the cash back %'s - it's superior than any of the other ones I have and with our recent shifting of most of our purchases to Costco, it's going to be a big W for the family.

These are the items we pretty much only buy at Costco:

Chicken breasts, steak and hamburger
Tortilla chips
TP
Paper towels
Softener salt
Heggie's pizza
Bottled water
Butter
Salsa
Laundry detergent
Dishwasher pods
Keurig pods
Bourbon, vodka and tequila
Athletic socks

One item they have that we bought there that is priced better than anywhere else is a Woozoo fan. That fan does everything.

I came home with a two-pack of sculpture metal herons a couple weeks ago. No one is going to convince me the $34.99 could have been better spent elsewhere.
That's the thing at Costco, you just stumble onto great bargains. Things you didn't plan to buy. We have a large Christmas wreath, with large ornaments, holds together solidly 100%, so pretty, and would be $50 anywhere else. For reasons unknown, $10 at Costco!

The nice thing is you can get your reward money direct deposited now vs years ago having to go to the store for it.
FYI, only get it once a year.

I always know where I’m going and what I’m getting sometimes I take a detour but I’m never doing the scenic stroll through the store like 98% of the other folks in there. It’s such a pain in the ass and I have not yet found the right time to go

Same. If you typically stay around the edges you can blast through pretty quickly. The best time to hit the WDM store is on week nights in the afternoon or evening, It's pretty tame. Friday through Sunday is friggin nuts. I typically go a lot on Fridays over lunch because of my schedule but that is a pretty terrible time to go. The one thing I will say about the weekends is that they are typically always staffed to have all the registers open so the checkout lines usually move pretty well.

We must go at odd hours because we’ve never had any issues in Ankeny. Usually pretty tame and never run into major issues or delays.

I'm a grown ass man with my own family who is capable of buying my own clothing. My dad will still show up with shirts/shorts/jackets he thinks I'd really like. I have no interest in dressing like a 70y/o Costco man at this point in my life.

It's at the point with my dad that Costco could sell chocolate covered sh!t and it would be the best thing he's ever had.

Ankeny is a walk in the park. Anytime we are up in Ankeny for kids activities we make it a point to hit Costco up there. The Ankeny store will get busier but it takes a few years to really build up memberships to the point where the store is really busy. Sam's also beat Ankeny to the punch and a lot of people simply don't like change.

Has anyone been to the Coralville Costco? I don't know what the location was before it was a Costco, but the completely covered parking lot really threw me a curveball the first time I stopped. Way more orderly than WDM.

I believe it was intended to be a warehouse for...Amana refridgeration? Whoever it was being built for didn't complete the project I believe...then Costco saw the opportunity to use it as covered parking. Pretty slick!

I go to the Ankeny one and my favorite time to go is around 7pm or after on Friday evening. It seems like most of the Friday after work people are gone by then and don't have to deal with the Saturday or Sunday busy headache.
