From past experiences, we need three qbs to be able to play. If we could score more points, we might be able to get the second and third stringers into the mix.

You pick a game that he was playing for the first time and had not been taking snaps in practice with the first string all year.

I don't understand how people can be fans of a specific player as opposed to the team as a whole. You have guys who would rather see Jantz play than the team succeed (RustShack, Clones21) and guys who would rather see Barnett play (FootballInTexas). If you're an ISU fan, why do you give a **** who is playing so long as the team is winning? I don't get it.

Still been in the system longer than Jantz and had a better grasp on it. Everyones pointing to Jantz' mistakes early in games his first year in this system.
As I said in another thread, the #1 QB job for next year is JB's to lose. If for any reason he should lose it, Jantz is going to be there. I hope that if he is needed on the field of play, he has a better understanding of the FBS game and improves his accuracy.

Good point. That is why steele will never see the field again outside of an injury to jb.
And like I said, it would be stupid for CPR to not have an open QB competition. IMO if its open Jantz wins. I'm sorry that you are so close minded that you don't think a QB can make better decisions his second year in a system.

I cannot think of one instance in isu football history in which the season-ending starter did not return to start next year (barring graduation).
Flynn just off the top of my head, and Tiller last year because he wouldn't have been the starter. But how often is ISU in the situation where they have more than one good QB? Or even one for that matter.
Without looking at the official number of snaps, I'd guess they played about the same number of snaps this season...

Steele won the same amount of games as Jared (3)
Steele had one less INT than TD's, Jared had the same number of TD's and INT's
I cannot find the fumble stats. Steele had the dropped snap against Iowa, the fumble on the play against Uconn that he recovered himself I believe (same play he hurt his foot), the bad handoff to White against Texas, the fumble against Baylor that led to a TD, and the 2 fumbles against Missouri. Jared had the botched handoff to Woody against KU, the terrible fumble against OSU inside the 10 yard line, (another fumble later in the game that our offensive lineman recovered, actually I think there were a total of 3 that he put on the ground but we recovered 2 of them), and the botched handoff to White against OU. I think I might be forgetting one more.
Basically, IMO, Jared didn't take care of the ball all that much better than Steele did. Tech's defense blows, KU's defense BLOWS, and OSU's D hasn't really stopped anyone all year. OU's D is good and then shut him down. The running game worked much better with Jared, because he ran the read better and had healthy legs. But the passing game struggled I thought. He barely completed half his throws and the down field element was virtually eliminated with Steele on the bench.
Steele has more talent and upside and I hope he gets a chance to battle for the job again, when healthy. No question he's gotta become a better decision maker. He's an exciting talent that can make plays with his arm. Throws too many picks but that can be corrected. People forget that Sage and Seneca threw more picks in their careers than touchdowns.
