Some interesting stats I've found that are relevant for this week. The first attached file is the 2009 enrollment for all 3 state universities. The second is a heat map of the counties. ISU has the most in-state students.

ISU - 18,503 (62 counties)
Iowa - 17,743 (19 counties)
UNI - 11,860 (18 counties)

The third file is a heat map of only ISU and Iowa. ISU has 77 counties with Iowa only having 22.

ISU is truly the university of the state.

Yet all we get is jokes in the media, silence by our politicos while both media and politicos have come out in support for all other state schools concerned. Don't be passive Cyclones. Email your politicians. Write editorials. Call your media personalities. Educate them on how much is at stake. I can't believe no one will even come to bat for U's with something as simple as a public message of support. Is it that hard? So what if it is for not? The entire state disgusts me.

what's the total enrollment there, both schools are around 30000
Iowa State enrollment breaks down something like this:
18,503 - Iowans
3,000 - Minnesotans
8,000 - Asians
3 - Other

The third category I'd be willing to bet is why they're getting more and more students enrolled. Record enrollment translates to "record number of Asians."

Not exactly sure.
Last I saw, ISU had more undergrads than Iowa. Iowa's medical fields push their graduate student numbers and makes total enrollment higher. Iowa still has more numbers in the long-run, but if we had a law school (something else helping UI) and a couple other popular graduate degrees, ISU would probably be bigger.
