How close do these things land to their intended target? Just wondering if they factor into account the wind, etc? Probably a stupid question... just curious.

Not sure, but the facility has two crossing lakebed runways that are nearly seven miles in length, so accuracy for this type of landing (parachutes and inflatable cushions) may be a relative term.

Boeing trying to sell

The beleaguered company is exploring a sale of its storied NASA business, including the troubled Starliner space vehicle and operations that support the International Space Station, according to people familiar with the matter.

The effort, part of a strategy by Boeing’s new CEO Kelly Ortberg to streamline the company and stem its financial losses, is at an early stage and may not result in a deal.

That's probably reasonable decision by new CEO. But from a revenue opportunity standpoint would be curious if having 2 private space entities is 1 too many. Maybe he's hoping Elon will throw him a few billion for tech/software
I think NASA’s hope is for two providers

I'm sure they would. But is there enough money to make Starliner and SpaceX profitable entities.

How much funding has NASA/US Federal Government made in SpaceX & Starliner? At some point does the relationship change where NASA becomes secondary to SpaceX and/or Starliner.

It would be interesting to learn more about the business/military needs that space will provide over next 10-25 years. Aka space minerals that can be used in growing tech fields.
