For those who have gone on a spring break trip or are planning one, do any of yall have any tips? I know most of these threads turn into older posters lecturing the younger ones about spending too much money and acting like fools, but we found a decently cheap ($150 for a week in Orlando) trip that myself and 8 of my friends are going on.

Looking for some tips to save some money or stuff we should do on a spring break trip in florida. We're bringing a bunch of food and beer from home. We'll eat breakfast and lunch in our hotel. Its about an hour drive to Daytona and theres a bus going to and from our hotel into downtown orlando.

or you can post some cool stories on the trip that you went on

Sounds fun. My only tip would be to watch ISU play some basketball. Even if you're on vacation, it'd be worth taking the time to watch.

Ask your parents for more money and/or move in and live with them for no room, board, or rent and save until your in your 30s.

Seriously, both my older kids wanted to move back in post college and we had to explain that with real independence comes independence from my wallet, beds, food, vacation tickets and the whole ball of wax. Some kids just never seem to want to grow up and get out of the nest for good. It is for the best to learn to sink or swin on your own ASAP.

Have fun.

Yes! The first thing I did was check to see if the tournament locations were in FL. Unfortunately they are not.

But I will watch on tv nonetheless

Take about twice as much money as you think you will need.

We did the road trip with four of us in a 2 door civic to Ft. Lauderdale. Muffler fell off in Atlanta and car wouldn't go out of 3rd gear in Florida. Florida becomes twice as long when stuck in 3rd without a muffler. Finally made it and the hotel didn't have a room for us and slept in the backseat of the car for the 2nd night in a row. Other than that it was great.

this is what I'll do if we make it (we should).

Hopefully we get put in Nashville, Omaha, or Louisville...the rest will be tough drives.

Good spring break Idea is Branson for the OP.

I went a few years ago to Orlando/Daytona Beach. We caught a spring training baseball game in Orlando. I think it was Toronto vs. the Detroit Tigers. Wear sunscreen. I didn't. Oops.

We stayed in Daytona Beach. Stop by the Daytona Speedway. The bars are fun and there are a lot of drunk girls ready to mingle, but it will be expensive. We found some bars with drink specials (free keg beer from 8-10 pm, for example) and that helped, but once the party starts rolling, it's hard to stop. Go to the beach and hang out. Make some friends on the beach. We ran into several groups from Iowa, and more from other parts of the midwest.

Have fun!

Where they love the governor
Know some people who hit up Lake Havisu. Sounded like a fun time.

Too bad I was never able to go on a spring break trip...oh well. I'll live vicariously through you young punks!

Went to Panama City a couple years ago. The beer and food at the walmart there was actually cheaper and/or equal to than in IA. Never been to Orlando over spring break but the other times I've been it's a little on the expensive side. No different than any other big city though.

I think everyone should go at least once. That being said, I'm glad I don't have daughters, because I would have a big problem with them going anywhere for Spring break.
