After use a Mach 3 for the last few years I thought I would try something different.

I just got a Merkur heavy classic safety razor
Merkur double edge SS platinum blades
Proraso shaving cream
I have a Boar Hair bush

I hope I don't slice open my ****:frown:

Oh, you use this on your "face".

I was also looking for an electric so I could shave with the blade every other day and give my skin a rest. I would love to just have five o'clock shadow every day but the corporate job doesn't allow.

the quattro owned me one time ... I ended up with blood dripping from where my chin used to be. baby-butt smooth though, once you get all the skin off

mach 3 regular does the trick for me.

I actually use the Gillette Fusion Turbo (yes, 5 blades for me). I was skeptical about the 4 and 5 blades until I tried it. It's actually a really comfortable shave - except for a certain area on either side of my Adam's apple. The hair there is so coarse that it usually takes two or three swipes plus at least one or two against the grain just to get the majority of the hair off of that area - and it's razor burn for the rest of the day...

I'm telling you guys to try out the the double edge. There is no reason to use 5 blades when 1 good one will work better.

Love the Mach 3. Borrowed one the first time on the way to Phoenix for the Insight Bowl when I forgot my razor, never gone back since. Haven't upgraded since.

Wow, three pages and not a single person who uses an electric razor? Dang. I badly need to replace my electric, but my attempts at research can't cut through the thick protective layer of total BS that surrounds all electric razors, so I have no idea what to buy that I can still afford.

No, I'm not switching to razors- I have a very, very big thing against blades of all kinds. Childhood incident, long story short, I'm perfectly fine using an electric every day.

I use an electric, mostly because I still cut myself after 13 years of shaving. I probably look sloppy as crap but frankly I just don't give a crap anymore.

Also, thanks for the recommendation on the hot towel shaves everybody - I've always wanted to do that like on a morning before a wedding. I've got a buddy getting married in August and I'm a groomsman and I'd love everybody to go get a hot towel shave. It's just something I've always wanted to do.

Set a roll of duct tape on the register/radiator/heater overnight (glue must be tacky), apply to face, chill duct tape with a cold wet towel, remove duct tape rapidly. Works great - if your not a sissy.

I have had the same Mach 3 razor for about 12 years. I should be the poster child for the Mach 3.

Isn't this like waxing on your face? I don't think that's recommended...

Norelco here. I have no desire to go back to blades ever again. Havent used one on the whole face for about 12 years. I'd probably have a nasty bunch of razor burn if I did.

My routine is usually something like this:

Tues-Thurs: shave every morning with Braun Synchro electric (expensive, but does a great job)
Fri-Sun: no shaving (unless formal weekend event)
Mon: shave w/ Gillette Fusion (so much better than Mach 3)

Really, none of the above matters though. There hasn't been a razor invented that can shave my face with causing all-day razor burn.

For the guys who use an electric daily, is there anything you use afterward to cool down the burn? I haven't really tried very many things, but I'd like to find something that works.

Much like everyone else, I really hate shaving.

I was thinking the same thing... I use electric, but used to bounce back and forth between electric and razors. I use a Braun now and it has a stand that you put it in and it cleans it. It does a decent job. Nice thing is you can rinse it with hot water when you are done.

Despite all this, I hate shaving and probably only shave once every five days...
