Either they build a new stadium for the Chargers (we can't afford it) and the Aztecs will have access to it, or the Chargers move and the Aztecs will continue to use Qualcom. If they join a major conference, perhaps they can afford to build an on-campus stadium, they have space adjacent to the basketball arena.
I love Qualcom. People always want the newest bells and whistles, but Qualcom is a great game-day atmosphere (it was even better for baseball, I don't know why they needed to build Petco). Pleenty of space for tailgating, a trolly stop on sight, good sightlines..... Man I enjoy Qualcom.
No no no... I'm sure I said lakebunny... Duh....
Not sure how I screwed that up
That's cool. You hear all this stuff from the NFL about how the Chargers need a new home, and you wonder if it's legitimate, like in Minnesota's case where the Metrodome is just no longer capable of being a viable option for football. (not enough bathrooms, narrow hallways, lack of vendors)
or if it's just that it doesn't fit what the NFL wants it to be in order to bring the Super Bowl there again.
I'm interested in being a billionaire, but it doesn't mean there is a chance in hell it will happen.
Seriously, outside of location, SDSU would be a great addition. Of course, location trumps all the benefits in this case.
What the french are you smoking?
Please take a look at the number of NFL and major college players that come from San Diego. Talk about a recruiting hotbed. If they had the chance to stay in town and play in a mafor conference, SDSU would be stacked.
It's not a top tier academic institution for sure, but look at the other schools being discussed for inclusion in conference re-allignment. and they aren't out of place They are a big state school in a great location. Brady Hoke was able to turn two years here into the Michigan gig. Rocky Long is a solid coach. Please explain what you don't like about the school.

I have nothing against the institution but they don't bring anything to the table. There are 20+ schools that bring more. Just because you live in SD and want them in the BIG 12 doesn't mean they should be able to play in the BIG 12.
:twitcy:I've said several times that they don't fit geographically. Never have I said "I want them in the Big12".
But they don't offer anything? That is absolutely laughable. San Diego is a top-ten city population wise. Entry into the SD/SoCal t.v. market might be worth something, don't you think? New recruiting in-roads to SoCal are probably worth something, wouldn't you say? SDSU iwas a top-ten basketball team last year and had a good recruiting class this year.
SDSU probably offers more than any of the other teams being mentioned for inclusion to the Big12. At the end of the day, geopgraphy is too much of a hurdle to overcome.
I wouldn't necessarily be against them, but they're SO far away.
They've done a great job the last couple years, but I have to say I'd honestly even heard of them before a few years ago. That and it just seems weird to me when a school named after a city or whatever has the word State after it...(e.g. Boise State, San Diego State, Ball State, Kent State, Fresno State, San Jose State)
From the reliable source on the Mizzou site, Missouri and the SEC were breaking bread long ago, and would start making moves as soon as A&M was finalized. That was in JulyA friend of mine from the University of Texas Sports information department tells me tonight to look for Boise State, Louisville and West Virginia. He tells me that Mizzou is gone!
Take that for what it's worth. I'm not a name dropper or think I'm an insider. I'm just relaying some info that was granted to me.
The question is CrossCyed. Do we really want a program that is flip/flopping all of the time like Mizzou? Personally, I'd love to see them stay but I hate their ********. If I were commissioner, I'd tell them to make a decision NOW.
