***Rumor K-State & Snyder

If Snyder is there, it's because his AD still wants him there. It isn't that complicated.

I can understand what the program means to Snyder and vice versa, but I'm sure everybody knows where the buck stops.

Not sure I agree eighth this. If the AD wants him gone and he won't leave, I don't think they will fire him.

There's a whole lot more to it than that when you're trying to get a legend to step down. Undoubtedly, there are major supporters of their programs that are in Bill's camp. You pee on Bill or his legacy by making this change without a great deal of tact, and there would be repercussions.

Maybe I'm making too fine a point. I'm saying that if they want him gone and don't fire him, it's on them. They were the ones that extended him knowing this was a possibility.

I have no idea if the comments that Synder is holding the coaching spot hostage so that his son is named HC there are true, but there isn't an AD in the world who would have the respect of the other coaches and administrators in his program if he allowed that to happen.

Everyone wants Bill to go out on his own terms, but there are limits implied in that, I would think.

As morbid as that may be (I don't think it is), there is something about living for your work, and when its gone the mind and body can quickly give up without that drive being used. And I worry that will be the case here.

Exactly. He loves that job too and being fired would crush him emotionally. Dying of a broken heart is a very real thing.

You would think that the uncertainty would be affecting recruiting, but KSU keeps plodding along at either #9 or #10 in the Big 12...same this year...only ahead of Kansas, but significantly below all the other programs. As an interesting not, the KSU QB, Skyler Thompson, was their #1 recruit in 2016...we will see more of him.

It's effecting their recruiting. They currently have 8 commits and have lost 10-15 players from the 2017 class. Things are getting bad.

I think he's back next year as well. He'll wait until we beat him consecutively (like the last time) before throwing in the towel.

I think he is so set on Sean taking over that he may hang out for a few more years. Heck, maybe he signed the extention figuring Sean would be close to retirement (If bill is 80 the boy could be 60 if he's the oldest) or if Billy was fired he would have a large chunk of cash at minimum.

I didn't know about 2017 class losses, but their numbers this year, quality-wise, are right in line with previous years. No doubt that it is being used against them in the recruiting department. The thing with KSU is that there are always low level 3 stars that can be picked up at the end of the recruiting year...not a good strategy though.

I think they had a lot of seniors on that offensive line. Pregame they said they were all returning starters from last year. Lose even three there and the line will take some massive hits. You can survive roughly 2 years of poor classes if Junior and seniors are good, but then the walls start to cave in after that.

Snyder is also a big JUCO guy and KS is like the epicenter of JUCO ball, so he can pick a little up there, but you never want to bank your team on JUCOs

Based on timing, it appears that Bill is declining to step down unless he gets what he wants (Sean to take over). If he was willing to retire, should have been done by now.

I agree that this type of action really tarnishes his reputation and is 100% selfish and petty. His family (including Sean) are taken care of financially for life. If Sean has any talent, he will be fine finding another job on his own.

AD needs to nut up and cut the legend loose. Bill coming back next year almost ensures a potential death spiral of the program.

Nice roadmap for the Ferentz family to follow....

Sean is 49.

Went to Iowa originally, transferred to K-State when his father went there, was a very good punter in college, but has never worked anywhere else since.

He said after the game that he'd "never lost a game like that".

In other words, they were doing their thing (and they were) and we went on a heater and rolled in the 96 to 4 shot.

Looks like Sean signed a new three year deal earlier this year. He is making $480k with a $25k raise each year. Last year he made $422k but prior to that his only known salary was apparently $155k.
