Since we're discussing it in the Queen vs Aerosmith thread. Both are great, I give the edge to the stones

There really is only one answer I find acceptable here.

More so than Sabbath?

Imo of course. led Zeppelin is way bigger than Sabbath so just has broader and more encompassing influence on heavy music. Whereas Sabbath, while very influential, has an influence that extends to a narrower collection of bands and genres.

There’s also a lot of crossover influence between these two bands, obviously Metallica being probably the biggest.

Sabbath fathered Heavy Metal for sure!

Led Zep is the offspring from BS and TRS are the greatest classic RnR band.

For me it’s LZ over TRS just simply on personal preference.

Long time ago I saw Page and Plant tour and I also saw TRS sometime between 03-07.

Both are experiences that I’ll never forget.

Stones are great but it’s Led Zeppelin. The quality of their music is just incredible. So many songs you can rock out too, plus some great chill songs too. My favorite band of all time, or at least right up there in the tier I can’t choose between.

Seen the Stones 9 times. Never was able to catch Zeppelin.
Most successful, Stones. Hardest music LZ.
Both amazing bands!

I discovered both along with the Beatles and Bowie as "MY" music as a teen in the mid 90s when all my friends were listening to gangster rap and grunge.

Up until about age 30 I'd have said Led Zeppelin, but at some point I'd have switched to Stones.

I am REALLY drawn to British rock in the Beatles tradition and the Stones are just more of the British rock sound where Led Zeppelin has so much more American blues influence. I do love that blues influence but just my own tastes have me more and more Stones.

I like the stones for sure, zeppelin is just so much more talented. Maybe the best drummer of all time. And probably a top 20 front man and lead guitarist. Stones cannot get close to that other than jagger and he doesn’t have plants voice. I’ll admit that I’m kind of a blues fan so this one isn’t close for me.

Led Zep - every album is a classic. Probably the Top hard rock vocalist , studio guitarist, and drummer combo of all time.
the Stones went downhill after Ronnie Wood replaced Mick Taylor. They were determined not to let their lead guitar dominate. They did use talented backup vocalists, horns, keyboards, harp to fill the void.

Stones were struggling enough early on that Lennon and McCartney let them cover a song they wrote for Ringo. It was their first UK top-20 hit.
