Fact #1- The Who is one of the greatest rock bands of all-time. Outside of perhaps Led Zeppelin, there may be no rock band so skilled in each facet (Daltrey-vocals)(Townshend-guitar)(Entwhistle-bass)(Moon-drums)

Fact #2-The Who is better than Def Leppard

Fact #3-While The Who may be better than Def Lep, Leppard still rocks and surely does not suck

Everybody step back before you hurt yourself...the rock'n'roll master is here to clear up any doubt. We will get to the bottom of all these accusations one-by-one, starting with the most outrageous.

what has 7 arms and sucks? The answer is obviously def leppard

As Michaelrr1 has so intelligently pointed out, Def Leopard has 9 arms... and most certainly does not "suck," they simply are not up to the standard that other rock bands of their time has set.

Yes, the Who does "rock" but, as you said they do not rock harder than the great Led Zeppelin. To disagree, there are many other bands that rock harder than the Who other than Zeppelin, such as, Van Halen, The stones, Guns 'n' Roses, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Queen, The Eagles, ZZ Top, (the aforementioned) Journey, Boston, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers (in no particular order). There are also many other bands that I would not say are better, but are definately in the argument as bands that would be as good; such as, Kansas, Styx, REO Speedwagon, The Police, Lynrd Skynrd, Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, David Bowie, Crosby Stills and Nash, Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), Blue Oyster Cult, and Bob Seger, just off the top of my head. Please dont make me resort to my iTunes list to further my point.

Court Adjourned. I hereby sentence dudeluv to 1 year of the slums of cyber prison. Take him away!

Any Questions. Now that this is all cleared up, we can get back to what is important...The cyclones!

Oh dear god no. I'm not offended by the Zep over Who comment, I personally like the who better but it's kind of a toss up. Van Halen, GNR, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, The Eagles, ZZ Top, Journey, Boston, and Tom Petty are definitely not better than the Who, no way no how. I'll break down Rock as it should be

The Best of the best
The Stones, The Who, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Dylan (if you consider him rock), and U2
- the following bands above cannot and should not be compared to any other bands that aren't in the same category

Good, but not the best
-Journey, Guns n' Roses, The Eagles, CCR, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foreigner, Styx, Bob Seger, Poison, The Boss, REO Speedwagon, Neil Young, Jefferson Airplane, The Animals

Completely overrated
-AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac, Jimi Hendrix (though a great guitarist)

That is how Classic Rock should be broken down.

BULL F*CKING $HIT. No way is any one of those bands overrated. I'm sorry, but you obviously don't know what your talking about. If Led Zeppelin is the Father of Rock then Black Sabbath is the mother. And AC/DC is easily in the top 5 rock bands for a reason. Just watch Hendrix play a guitar and you will understand why he is considered the greatest to ever pick up a guitar. Fleetwood Mac is a good band but nothing special. But if you ever discrace the name of Black Sabbath again I will hunt you down and gut you like a fish.:frown3qg:

I absolutely adore The Who, and have to travel for work the day of the concert, so I can't go. I keep consoling myself that Daltrey's voice is going after years of screaming, and that it won't be the same without The Ox.

I think that Zep is clearly a hell of a band, but The Who were innovators in the early '60's/late '70's. Listen to "Who's Next" (highly touted as one of the top 10 albums of all time) and tell me that such songs as "The Song is Over" and "Behind Blue Eyes" aren't fantastic. The song "Baba O'Riley" exhibited one of the first usages of the computer in a song. Listen to "Tommy" and see the influence of the rock opera on such bands as Pink Floyd. You don't have to love their music, but respect the major effect they had on the entire culture of music.

To the question of whether or not Steve Perry played w/Journey - I think he officially quit back in the '80's - for a subpar solo career. :)
