Replacing the turf at Trice

So it's pretty obvious we're much better on artificial turf no? Of course this was a bounce back gimme game against a lesser opponent but there is no denying we looked much more explosive offensively yesterday.
I love that our turf grass program is as good as it is but come on...

UNLV is terrible, drawing a conclusion in 1 game is dumb. Clearly ISU should play on grass as 2 out of our 3 losses last year were on turf(OSU and B12 Championship). This blaming the playing surface is some higher tier coping from our fanbase.

Do whatever the Packers do. Which I believe is a grass-turf hybrid

I think. Maybe that's Denver

Packers and Kansas City Chiefs have high dollar grow lights they have to bring in. I know the Chiefs share them with Sporting Kansas City, so I imagine they're not cheap. I know Sporting Kansas City also has a tube system that runs warm water underneath the field to keep the grass growing. I don't see Pollard shelling out that kind of money.Capture.PNG

I read this and I'm still not 100% sure what kind of black magic this is

SKC actually has an electric heating system, not the tubes like in green bay.

I can't imagine accumulation of paint in the soil is good for optimum growth. Just another reason for occasionally ripping it all out and starting over.
I’m also making a wild guess it gets the same base soil as they used on the hillsides. This stuff looks kinda worn out as it is.

The hillsides will have your average black dirt. Their is no reason to have a special base for that.

The hillsides had a created base, not simple black dirt. Can’t remember the term someone used. Augmented?

Given that the field really needs to stay healthy through November seems like a good argument to me to give it as fertile a base as possible. More so than the hillsides did, anyway.

Here's the deal the Hillsides are nothing special and dont need to be. An Athletic field is far more complex. I know for a fact nothing special is on the hillsides.

So the group doing the change over has a new hybrid stitching machine. Wonder if we will go with that. Looks like they just got it. Good timing too, got some practice on muni fields and then do the Jack.
