Glad you noticed!

I had an embarrassing renewal 10 years ago. Was registering my trip and had passport out and noticed the expiration was like 10 days off and I was flying in 10 days to Mexico. Big oops. Was able to get an appt with the passport office in Mpls to do an in person expedited renewal and got it just in time. Was a miracle I was able to get an appt. Had to return a few days later to pick it up. It's one of the regional centers that can print a passport right there after some processing time. The next nearest office to do that is Chicago but I only lived 3 miles from the Mpls one otherwise I had a canceled trip. I actually knew the security guard for the fed building and we chatted some. He said they have people from the Dakotas and Iowa there every week with the same last minute oops which made me feel better about being so careless about it.
That's absolute nightmare fuel. Glad they got it resolved for you!!

I have CLEAR. At some airports, they "clearly" have a preference for CLEAR and aggressively channel you to it. At others, it doesn't seem to be emphasized. Requires a personal attendant to administer the digital facial recognition test and take you to the TSA checkpoint (ahead of the TSA Pre-check-only masses). Seems like it might be an advanced version of TSA Pre-check that will eventually reinstate the airport social hierarchy for those of us with CLEAR.
Thanks for the feedback. I did a trial with it, but I didn't notice enough of a benefit to pay for it.

Just did mine online. If it's between 4-10 days, I should expect to get it April 27-May 3rd right? Right?

I have international travel coming up in June so I waited too long but I should be fine. I live a few blocks from the Chicago passport office if I don't get it in time.

First time or a renewal? My daughter went down to the PO here in Ames on Monday to get hers renewed but out of date and for her two daughters. The gal told her it would take 30 to 40 days to get them back. She had done everything online before she went in, and had the photos taken at Walgreens. They told her that if she does not have it back in 5 to 6 weeks, she could drive up to the Twin Cites and then could do one up there the same day.

Renewal and did it online. So no extra wait time for the outgoing mail at least.

You should be fine, I would give it until the last week of May, and if you have not gotten it, go down to the Passport office and have them do it there. My daughter was told if you have everything done before hand on line, they can issue them directly to you at the office. Not sure if you would need an appointment or they take walk ins.

When I did mine, my photo was initially rejected because the background was too gray. I changed the background color and it was accepted. It'll take a couple of days for them to accept it, a couple of days for them to approve it, and a couple of days for them to mail it. It was really easy and showed up quicker than I expected.

We used the the passport office to renew passports for our kids and it did work well. I would make an appointment and tell them that you are travelling in the next two weeks or whatever they say they allow. You may need to bring an itinerary to prove it, but that itinerary certainly doesn't need to be a final itinerary. Bring photos but if they aren't acceptable, they will re-take the photos on-site. We had passport photos taken at Walgreens but they weren't what the office wanted.

Thank you for reminding me. I just completed the online renewal. It said 4-6 weeks to process and mail it.

We just did ours online. Mine was here in about 3 weeks, my wife was a week longer.

The kids first time apps didn't take but a few days longer.
