Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

On that topic, I had a friend who had twin girls. They were induced prematurely because one of the twins was getting all the food and starving the other, so when they were little, they were off by ~3 months consistently in development. Now they are older and you can't tell at all, but my friend joked that he when people asked him "oh, are they twins?" he'd answer "No, they are 3-months apart" - just to watch people's heads try to process that.

I actually think we baby him TOO much. And it's not just us. I think the whole family is constantly holding him and babying him. I almost think he's getting sick of it and trying to be more independent and explore around the house on his own. Yesterday I came up behind him when he was crawling and said something and he just laughed and launched himself into overdrive to get away from me.

Sounds like a future serial killer.

I like this kid.

So a coworker of mine brings his kid to work just to visit. This kid is 11-months old (only 1 month older than Baby GTO) but already walks, talks, wears regular clothes (separate shirt and shorts, shoes, etc) and just looks and acts like a toddler.

I look at Baby GTO and he still wears onesies or one-piece outfits, no shoes, can't walk (although he does crawl), doesn't talk, doesn't want to eat solid foods, and his face just looks like he is 6 months old. Don't get me wrong, I love that he is still a baby, but he's got a LOT of catching up to do in the next few months.
Sounds like the other kid's a savant. He should be launching a plan to take over the world in the near future.

See, he's practically a teenager.

There's always Craigslist

You could always run home grab babygto and swap him out.
I don't think I could get away with swapping Baby GTO for a blonde kid. Might arise some suspicions. I think stand-up comedian Paul Varghese made a good point that white people adopt ethnic kids all the time, but you'll not see an ethnic couple with an adopted white baby. People would think they stole him.

Why would you want to? Those dark eyes & long lashes....he's beautiful!

Down pouring here. I'm supposed to play soccer tonight at 5:15, son has baseball game. Wont be disappointed if neither happens.

Somewhat related, My nephew barely spoke for the longest time. He would use hand gestures and made up words. My sister was getting really worried because he seemed so far behind. Then one day I guess he decided it was time to start talking and it became a never ending monologue.
She said "for the longest time I was afraid he wouldn't speak, now I'm afraid he'll never shut up"

Growing up on the farm, I didn't run into a lot of kids early on. Never spoke until 4-5 years old (outside of made up words), parents didn't work with me. Family thought I might be special needs. Just had no reason to talk, after some speech therapy in K-2 to catch up, I was fine.

Biggest problem was a friend named chuck, I made a "f" sound for ch.

I went from light blonde, to light brown to dark brown within probably about a 5 year period as a kid.
Your parents probably lied to you. You're probably Pants#3, after a couple of failed attempts. Not that #3 was a huge success, but they were probably happy enough that you didn't trip over your own feet.
