Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

nope, no biking. Proper bike height means my feet can barely reach the ground. Dangerous. AND, a friend used clips for the first time and then when stopped at an intersection, she tipped over. Banged up her elbow/wrist pretty good (likely sprained) and she had to miss a week of kickball.

That's just a risk I can't take.

Nooo...again, the common denominator there is that my foot is under my leg. If I sit on the couch and eat cheez-its and watch TV without having my foot under my leg, I don't get sore. If I sit in a lawn chair with my foot under my leg, I get sore. Therefor, I have identified the issue and corrected it. I have also suggested that the common denominator for all this pain is that people are running. You bicyclists don't complain about heel striking and what not. Perhaps these runners should take up bicycling.
Cyclists complain plenty about knee pain; shoulder, back and neck soreness and, worst of all, saddle soreness and/or numbness.

By the way, CG, I don't think anyone converts over to clipless pedals without going down now and then when the come to a stop. The vast majority of the time the thing that gets hurt the worst is their pride.

biking also hurts my butt. So two reasons, because I'd probably tip over a lot. Of course I had a Wal-Mart bike so yeah.

I would take any of my running pain over saddle soreness any day. The first time (and day after) I got on my cyclocross bike, ouch.

Mine did both. There are good and bad points about both venues - have you ever listened to a 5th grade band concert?

I've heard horror stories about Show Choir from a couple of my co-workers. They require parents to volunteer a huge number of hours or pay thousands of dollars. It did not sound like fun (for the parents)

On here, I should have specified "on here".

Honestly, it's probably closer to a "hand in pants slouch" than anything.
But I see you no longer sit on your right foot so you have corrected the problem

Now that it is getting nice again (hopefully for good) I need to get back out riding. The last time we went riding I didn't hear the end of it from my wife. Apparently I misjudged how well she would handle a 9 mile ride.

As much as non-cyclists take shots at bike shorts, a quality pair with a well designed pad is critical if you plan to spend any extended time on a bike. If someone is going to skimp on (or skip) cycling clothing the last place they should skimp is on their shorts.
