Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

It really pisses Mrs. Velo off when auto repair people will talk to me and ignore her. When she tries to tell them that her car is making a noise and they ask me what it is like and when it happens I have to say, "Why don't you ask her, she's right here - we said it is her car." I have actually had to walk away from the conversation to get a guy to converse with her like an adult. I mean, I don't ignore a female repair manager because I would rather talk to a man. What makes them think that treating their female customers like **** is a good idea or good for their business.

Car salesmen also. I ranted about that a thread or two back.

I get this at parent teacher conferences. Talk to the wife and ignore me. At the end they go, well that's it, any questions as people behind us are waiting.

I got the same thing at little00's conferences, but just assumed it was because Mrs00 has been volunteering one morning a week, so she talks to the teacher alla time anyway, hadn't considered this possibility.

I had a similar experience when I drove a female coworker to an auto parts store to pick up some parts for her car. She's a farm girl whose father works as a mechanic when he's not too busy on the farm and has been around engines all her life and knows a hell of a lot more about cars than I do, yet the sales guy kept trying to talk to me about her car.

That was a lot of reading but I'm finally caught up. BU and I could room together. It'd be the frattiest room ever. We're going to need a lot of closet space for all these boat shoes. Really wanted the closet under the stairs though.
Noted. I'll send final room assignments tonight.

Will post a different thread for the game we'll be playing. Will be in 2 halves, a preliminary somewhat random/guess murder mystery and a second round that will be more in the murder/supernatural/alliances realm. Bear with me, as I'm creating the game and finalizing the rules (from scratch, so take it easy on me). Hope you guys enjoy it. Since I'll be moderating the game, Pants might need a third roommate (isulives2train?). More to come later.

Don't worry 00 I got us covered.

GTO did you get the check I sent?

Does this mean you're going to kill two of us? I like these people and don't really want any of these people to die. And how'd you get our addresses? I guess you really only need two of them. I'll assume CSTrunk is one of them but I'll be looking over my shoulder until this game starts.

Interesting mind tricks being played, Mr. JC. Trying to get me prepared for death... but will I really be dead?

So I'm feeling like a bit of a jerk and need a ruling. There's a guy that I work with that is a decent guy and moderately hard worker (about an 80%-er). He's had health issues related to smoking (chain smoker) and drinking (not an alcoholic, but more than casual).

My issue comes where he has missed a lot of work this year due to doctor's appts and health problems. The doctors keep telling him to stop drinking and smoking, but he keeps on keeping on. I get that he doesn't want to give up his vices. It's his life, not mine. But I'm getting tired of covering for his *** for all of his appts and for when he doesn't feel good.

A little bit ago, he came to me and mentioned another doctor's appt for tomorrow because he "wasn't feeling right." I was irritated and replied, "Are they going to tell you anything different this time?"

I have a hard time sympathizing with someone that complains about the same issue over and over again, is diagnosed with a way to alleviate the pain, yet foregoes the advice, incurs the same pain, misses more work and then I end up covering for him and having to hear about how he hurts.

Cooler -

I think you are justified in your feelings towards the situation. It's hard for me to feel a whole lot of sympathy, when it's an issue that easily solved by not doing the **** that you shouldn't be doing.
