Do NOT hurry to have kids. Be young and married and have fun for a while. Kids are awesome, but they change EVERYTHING!
girl we went to high school with had a planned kid at 19 or 20. I was like dis gon be good.
7 years and two kids later, they're still married and seem very happy. I'm glad I was wrong.
The flip side of that is that I work with a guy who is 6 months younger than I am, and he'll be an empty nester at 40-ish, I'll be just getting my youngest into pre-school.
Hubby & I both had our kids before the age of 25. He was 40, I was 39 when we married, and we were empty-nesters within six years of blending our family. We have really enjoyed the ability to start going on real vacations, get season tickets, that sort of thing.
Some people opt to have the fun sans kids when they're young, some opt for post-kid fun. Some choose to never have kids at all. It's not a one-size-fits-all kind of deal.

No kids and just booked a Hawaiian vacation.

yeah, I'd like to have that nice balance of not too old when the kids are gone. BFF's parents are mid-40s and their last kid is in high school. They've been taking vacations for years now that the kids are self-sufficient. So I don't want to be 35 and still having kids, but I'm also like hey, I enjoy being youngish and with income able to be spent on non-baby things.
coming up on being married 2 years and no kids yet. it is awesome, we have a dog to give us some responsibility but we know realistically we are still 2+ years from having a kid.

Those may be the only things that rate above spiders on my "disgust-o-meter." I never had cockroaches before I moved to KC and I lived in some really ****** places. The only reason we got them was because our neighbors in our apartment complex moved and we inherited their pets. Needless to say, I was repulsed by them, and it played a huge part in us moving from apartment life to being home owners.
Then I'd hear horror stories about cockroaches burrowing into the glue in the cardboard boxes and that people would move the little bastards with them to their new place. I pretty much ran everything I own through intense scrutiny before it went on the moving truck.
If I were you, I'd trigger a tsunami to purge the island.

And then there are those poor planners who have their first kid at 18 and will have their last graduate HS when they are 58.

Duff Ave traffic has become crazy stupid in the last 10 years. I try to avoid it whenever possible.
GF and I have been dating for 4.5 years, and we both know we arent ready to be married. Some days it seems she thinks we could be engaged, but Im not doing any of that till Im out of college an settled down for some time.
One. It is a first family - second family deal. I wouldn't trade them for a whole fistful of trips to Europe.
