It just seems crazy at 21 that people might think I'd actually be getting engaged.
Then I think about it for a second, and that's really not all that uncommon.
Same here - only he was 23 & I was 20. I turned 21 about 2 weeks before we married.

But damn. I don't even know how I'd afford a ring at this point.
Yeah we probably were. It worked out for about 8 years before it went South though.
Don't rush into anything. If you do really love DK then waiting a few years wont hurt anything. You'll just be more mature and able to handle life better as a couple.
Eh, maybe. By my family standards, I was old. We spent 16 years together. One of us matured. One, not as much.
I saw a lady drive down Duff Ave in the turning lane at lunch. She was going down it for about a mile before cutting off someone and getting back into the normal lane. Wasn't surprised to see a lady from foreign country driving once I caught up to her. Have fun with the extra traffic in Ames everyone.
I was pretty slick.
We were taking one last look at an apartment in Ankeny that we were moving into. I went into the bedroom and put the ring box in the closet on a shelf.
She came in after and found it and was worried someone had left it... until I got down on one knee.
We were both 20 which seems really young when I think about it. We were 23 when we got married though. Old by smalltown standards.
I was 21 she was 20 when we got engaged and we got married a year later. Now 24 and 23 with one kid on the way. We were the first of our friends to get married but know of many others that got married around the same age or younger.
There's no one perfect age to get engaged. Don't give in to peer pressure. If you're still waffling, do yourself & DK a favor & hold off for a while.
I got engaged while in college at the age of 22. Seemed way too young at the time. Glad to say it didn't work out before getting married. Waited until I was 26 to find the perfect one, married at 28, kid at 30. Worked out perfect this time.
I don't think there is a problem with getting married while you're pretty young. That's fine. We were both 22 when we got engaged, married at 23.
I do think there is a problem with having planned children while you're pretty young. Planned kids at 18?! NO THANKS.
