anybody make a chicken tortilla-type soup?

Maybe not the recipe you want but this is what I do. In a crock pot put:

1 lbs chicken breast
1 can of corn (with the water)
1 can of rotel
1 can of black beans (rinsed)
1 packet of dry ranch

Mix together and eventually shredded the chicken when tendered. One hour before serving put a block of cream cheese, and then mix together when soften. I also like to put some chicken broth in the beginning to make sure it isn't so thick. Cook for about 6-8 hours.

I've made some in the past but not always quite exactly what I wanted.

Think I'm going to try out this one minus the hot peppers. Will do the rotel and a tiny bit of cayenne for heat.

never thought about a ranch version, that seems interesting.

We use this awesome recipe: www.allrecipes.com/Recipe/Chicken-Tortilla-Soup-I

Two changes. Use a tsp cumin instead of oregano, so it tastes Mexican instead of Italian.
We only use a little cilantro (1 tsp) because we don't care for it much.

that seems similar to what I've done. I usually go a more creamy route and add milk. Definitely doing the added tomatoes, those aren't in my recipe.

their medical threads are the worst. They're the best, but they're the worst.

Makes me think about my brother's 2 kids from his 2nd marriage to a chick from Arkansas. They are 6 and 7 now, and have basically zero baby teeth left between the two of them. Why? From drinking sweet tea since they got off formula at the age of 1 or so. Gee, who would have thought that massive amounts of sugar would be bad for kids' teeth.

Ugh.

The worst part is that this chick had one kid from a previous marriage (no dental issues) and my brother had 2 from his first marriage (no dental issues), so both of them knew better. Were they just lazy or what? It's sad.

that's terrible.

I just had a blind Asian man at the convenience store call me racial slurs and yell at me because I didn't know the song playing on the overhead speakers was a Bee Gees song.

The brisket has been consumed, and some beers as well...the brisket was glorious.

And chicken on sale at HyVee for 1.99/lb.

Strong possibility this is Wednesday's dinner.

Oh my gosh, that reddit thread... I'm laughing and sadly shaking my head at the same time.

I used to work with electronic medical records, and was notified of an error where a newborn baby existed twice in our system, which led me to investigate why that happened.* The mother presented at the ER with abdominal pains and bleeding. IIRC, by the time the doctor got to her, the baby was already crowning. She had no clue she was pregnant.

You have the show "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant", and there are women on the show where it happens with their second...third...fourth child. I know I've never been pregnant...I just can't wrap my mind around not knowing.

*Our software wasn't too friendly on trying to admit a brand new baby as an ER patient. Plus, the hospital where the baby was born only had a level II NICU, and since there was no prenatal care, the baby was transferred to the hospital in our system with a level III NICU. Had to put those together in our system.

personally, I liked the nonchalant foot amputation lady.

Because she thought it would grow back.

Just stayed up to see the Cubs lose in the 12th to the Dodgers with a walk-off 3-R HR.

*sigh*

G'night folks....kinda.
