Anyone else having sweet corn for supper?

I went lunch with my staff Thursday. I got a meal that came with cornbread. It was disgusting. They eat theirs with jelly (weird? I've always eaten mine plain or warmed up with butter). Anyway, I was talking to them about how they haven't had corn until they've had Iowa sweet corn. They said to have someone buy some cans and ship it over. My head almost exploded. They couldn't understand the concept of corn even being eaten on the cob.

the guy that used to combine our corn was golfing in FL one time and the people he was with were saying if we ran out of farmers, they'd just plant corn trees on their own.

I was more curious about the jelly on cornbread thing. Is it just me that's never heard of this? The waitress was shocked that I didn't eat it with jelly and almost refused to bring butter out. They also sweetened the crap out of the cornbread.

My wife always puts butter and honey on cornbread. I stop at the butter. I couldn't find any sweet corn stands today.

I've always had honey or jelly on mine growing up, but by themselves they were not sweet.
