If Clones win the rest of their conference games are they guaranteed to make the conference championship? Or does BYU and Colorado have the inside track?

I didn't realize until the Two Chris' show yesterday that the Big 12 could possibly not get any team in the playoff. I thought the Big 12 champion was automatic. I guess we need Army to not win out or something?
5-7 format. Only the top 5 ranked conference champions are guaranteed. 6th highest conference champion is out unless get an at-large.I don’t think that is true. The Big 12 champion will be in, but no guarantee we get a bye.
Army or Boise state may need to lose as they could technically be ranked higher and Big 12 wouldnt get in. It is indeed possible Big 12 could get blanked if they are undefeatedI don’t think that is true. The Big 12 champion will be in, but no guarantee we get a bye.
Army still has a game with ND, so the loser of that should be out. Boise could jump the B12 winner, but that would mean the the conference champion out of the B12 would have two losses.Army or Boise state may need to lose as they could technically be ranked higher and Big 12 wouldnt get in. The idea that the Big 12 champion could be ranked below the MW and AAC champions is almost incomprehensible, yet here we are

This start isn't helping usAre you sure about that? Media pundits are already saying ND has “made up” for the NIU loss, so they’re basically undefeated, so a loss to an undefeated Army would be a quality loss and shouldn’t count, either.
Isn‘t that how this works? Losses by blue bloods/SEC/B1G can be discounted for “reasons,” but Big 12 teams have to be perfect every week to stay up there in the rankings.
