I agree with all of this, but, as someone that raised an eyebrow at the Curtis Jones signing, I have also reached the point where I have to defer to this staff’s ability to identify and maximize talent.

Tj plays 3d chess with rosters the posters on this forum are playing checkers.(myself included. After TJs 1st season, I never doubt what he does. Went from 2-22 to the tourney)
Gotta think we are in great shape, right? I mean…nobody with a decision is coming to Ames, IA on a Monday to see us play IUPUI.
As I read through this thread, I reflected on how awesome it is to be in the position we are in.
- TJ has already created a culture that attracts the kind of talent he wants on his team.
- TJ has already brought in enough talent on the current team and next year's incoming class that we can afford some players not being "hits" either day 1 or at all.
- Many times the "misses" don't even make it through summer camp as it's pretty obvious whether you'll thrive in the first month of TJ's system, which enables the staff to react much faster than most programs.
- I trust TJ's recruiting for finding fits for our team so much that even when I don't like how recruits we are offering play, I assume I'm missing something.
- I now just look at recruiting threads with minor interest given 1-4 above.

Honestly I don't care if we get him or not. If the staff thinks he can add value to our team, then sweet, if not I know they will get another dude just as good or better. Also, If Gonzaga wants him, we should also be wanting him. Mark Few knows basketball pretty darn well I would say.

If the staff wants him, I hope they get him, but I agree that if they miss, they'll find another good one.
I figure TJ and the staff know more about basketball than me.
That being said, Warley looks more like a guy you bring in to fill a discrete role rather than somebody you expect to transform a program. He's a high-floor, low-ceiling PG intended either to complement Tamin in their mutual senior years or some hedge against Tamin testing the NBA waters early. You're going to need a second ballhandler either way with Gilbert set to depart, so here Warley would be to do that role.
He'd be a "bridge" to when some of the younger guards or additional transfers are ready to take over.
Unless he uses his redshirt year to figure out his shot in which case look out...

Yeah, not everyone needs to have a starring role. Teams need solid role players too.
Maybe so, but most transfers aren't looking to be backups. Not saying this is the case with this transfer.
