Thought I’d go weight by weight and give me thoughts on the season in general and specifically the Big 12’s/heading into NCAA’s.

125 - tough to see Kysen go out the way he did (he is done, correct?). Looked like the old Kysen with low activity and appeared to he a step slow, but probably expected with his time off. Not expecting an NCAA at-large bid for him. Bummer that we didn’t get to see his improved discipline on and off of the mat come to fruition.

133 - Evan was solid all year, but really had a pretty bad weekend. His Moore match was unlike anything we’ve ever seen since he got in the lineup. Hoping 10 more days can get him feeling a bit better with whatever he had going on (hammy?). Main issue for him is going from a 3 or 4 seed, likely all the way down into the teens. Still expecting him to be right there for an AA spot.

141 - What a solid surprise JFrost has been this year. Tournament went right about as expected (thought he’d be closer to Happel but was beaten soundly). Should be right around a 10-12 seed and bloodround/low AA is very much on the table.

149 - Hair pulling matches to watch, but he got it done. Only has 1 loss at 149 (which he avenged). He still can flirt with either going 0-2 at NCAAs, or could AA. Hope he lays it all out there. I also think he will be seeded 8-12 range.

157 - Man, what to say here. Similar to Paniro, he will either go 1-2, or could finish as an AA. Consistency hasn’t been there and makes small mistakes that really cost him (Siebrecht match early full send and the late riding error against Downey). He’s probably going to be around a 15 seed.

165 - Good for Riggins continuing to get better and stealing an NCAA bid. He has looked better each time out since dropping to 165, wish he would have been there from the start. Depending on his record at 165(?), he likely has a pig-tail match to get to face Mesenbrink?

174 - Ran into a buzzsaw in the quarters (while hurting bad enough that he almost didn’t wrestle?) but gained some fans with his warrior-run on the backside. Wish he would have started the year at 174 and I am sure he won’t be 100% by NCAA’s, but he will be dangerous. Hope he can get back to the BR for a chance at AA, but I am sure he will be seeded in the 20-25 range.

184 - Bockman has been one of our most consistent guys this year. Isn’t likely to knock off one of the top 5 or 6 guys, but also isn’t that likely to lose to someone he’s ranked higher than. With that said, his injury didn’t look/doesn’t sound good. Hope it’s not serious but no clue what his NCAA outlook would be. Should be seeded around 14-18.

197 - Schon is another guy that very clearly improved throughout the year. Wouldn’t have guessed back in December that he would place at Big 12’s. Good effort out of him and I’ll be curious to see how he improves into the 25-26 season.

285 - Likely our most improved guy from November to now. SHOULD get an at-large seeded somewhere from 20-25. Tough loss to Mitchell (don’t think he would lose to him again). Excited to see him after a redshirt year as I think we will have a real hammer at heavy for the next 3-4 years.

This year I am going to go into the NCAAs without any preconceived notions of where I think guys should finish. Just going to try to enjoy the ride and cheer people on without getting upset.
Kudos to you! Would be much better to do it that way.

I’ll say the same thing, but then will be cursing when the first whistle blows :D

The final coaches rankings dropped last night, and typically are pretty close to what the seeds end up being (seeds can be moved up or down 2 spots after the matrix?)

133 - Evan is at #13. Seems harsh but not surprising given his Big 12 finish, would set him up for a match with either Romney or Davis in the 2nd round. Could see committee bumping him to 11 or 12.

141 - Jacob is at #9. The 8 is Koderhandt (who I think moves up to 6 or 7).

149 - Paniro is at #5 and I think he is there to stay. Could be a potential quarterfinal with Parco which would be fun.

157 - Cody is at #15, Jared Hill is at #18 and I’d take Cody in that rematch and would be a second round match with Meyer Shapiro… buckle up.

165 - Riggins is NR in coaches but is #29 in RPI, could see him in the pigtail round, or right on that 30 line.

174 - MJ is at #17 and I think that’s a great spot for him with everything that has happened with him this season.

184 - Bockman is at #13 in coaches but all the way up at 8 in RPI, wonder if we could see him bump to 11 or 12 (likely not with his MFF losses). Hope he is healthy enough to compete at a good level.

285 - Definitely the most disrespectful ranking IMO down at 25 (should be around 20 in my opinion). He’s a few spots behind Runyon and Rasmussen both who he has beaten in the past couple of weeks.
