Players Era

But there are pods. ISU isn’t competing with Tennessee for the championship game. They are competing with Michigan, Auburn, and Baylor. Either way, we’re going to need to run the score up to make the championship game with Michigan and Auburn playing. If Michigan wins, I don’t think we have a chance in the tie breakers no matter what we do in our game. If Auburn wins, then it goes to point differential.

They really need to add more games with all these teams. Or at least have all the 1-0 teams play each other in the second game.

LOL I didn't know this was in pods. That makes this too confusing for me to try and predict.

Cyclones favored by 8.5 over Creighton. Tru TV @ 1pm.

Hope Tamin is good to go.
It was 9.5 yesterday when I looked, I would guess this line adjustment is based on tamin being out. With tamin healthy this line is probably closer to 13 or 14 in my opinion

I don't really care about a "championship" with a goofy format.

To me, this is all about getting 3 good games on the schedule, and getting some NIL cash.

And if Tamin is out, let's just hope he can recover and get healthy for the b12 season.

Agreed to a point. But there is significant NIL money involved

Maybe it's already been mentioned in this thread but I would think the NCAA should be paying close attention to this. The NCAA tournament is their cash cow and if this Players Era works out what is to stop some entity other than the NCAA from creating their own post season tournament with big money payouts to the participants.

Can someone explain this to me like I’m 7?
Tie breakers for the championship game are 1) Record 2) Head-to-Head, 3) +/- with a maximum per game of 20 points 4) Points scored 5) Points allowed 5) AP Poll rankings. We compete with our half of the field for the championship game. Our half is everyone who played in the same arena. Winners from game 1 in that group were: ISU, Baylor, Auburn, Michigan. Auburn and Michigan play, so there will be at least one team 2-0, which means we cannot make the championship without a win so we need to win the +/-. Since Michigan is +20 on the +/- already, if they win by more than 1 they are ahead of us.

Our easiest path is 1) Baylor lose to St Johns 2) Auburn over Michigan in a close one 3) Beat Creighton by 10+ more points than Auburn beats Michigan

So basically win and likely play for 3rd?

What's the difference in payout for the "champion" and a team that goes 3-0, but doesn't play in the championship/3rd place game?

Another risk I see is other conferences’ teams pulling out of this competition or starting their own, knowing that participating directly benefits the B12 financially.

This has to be executed so it is more worthwhile for other conference teams to ignore that downside and still participate.
Although it is another revenue generator for the Big12 it's not like a college football hampionship game. It's really nice to have and needed. for the other teams SEC/BIG this is an opportunity to showcase your team and change the narrative of Big12 being the best BBall in the nation. There is also financial incentives to the teams outside hte Big12.

how tf do schools build a schedule for this?

say ISU went 0-3 out there. they'd obv not qualify for week 3 championship, so then theyre just SOL on any games that week?

My thoughts exactly, the schedules are built years in advance. Maybe the Big12 tie ins are easier to scheudude since it doesn't matter who you play is just holding dates.
