Pick-up bball

I know this has been posted a few times before, but just got a membership to the YMCA of greater Des Moines. Was wondering if any of you all get together at any of the locations for some pick up hoops. I used to play all the time at Lied when I was a student, but haven't played in a year. Shot around last night at Ankeny's little gym and got the "itch" again as Brett Favre would say.

Terry Woods and Hurl Beachum used to play down there. I don't know if they do now. I have not worked out there in a long time.

I think the highschool gym on Wednesdays and Sundays. I just got the YMCA membership, so I use their gym now. But I just want to play pickup. I hate running and when I play bball, I don't think about running!

"pick-up" games at Ankeny HS is for YMCA members on Sundays (5-7) and Wednesdays (7-9).

I joined the Y last year and play downtown over lunch hour from time to time. I plan on playing more often after the New Year as I'm only a few blocks away.

I also play pick-up games with a group of guys on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. It's through the Park & Rec where everyone throws in a few bucks to cover the $20-25 hourly gym rental.

For leagues, try Sports University. I play there in a league in the Spring.

Just show up at Noon and you're in. The first 10 that are interested in full court are in, then the next 5 play the winners, etc.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays are best, Mondays and Thursdays are OK, and Fridays are dead.

I usually get in 2-3 good games before I shower and head back to work.

I work on University and 42nd. About 10 minutes away. I'd love to take a longer lunch once or twice a week and get a couple games in.
