Parking lots after games.

Took us 40 min to get out tonight, and we left with 2 min to go. Is there a reason they no longer open the gates from C5 to the south anymore? It never used to take this long, but every game is a mess anymore. Saw 2 cars just hit other cars purposely to try and push them out of the way. And then people just started driving over the grass to get out.
Stay for the whole game!

I park in GA when I go since I usually go to games on a whim and have been to every game so far this year. What's been annoying to me is that the traffic procedure has not been the same for every game. I've always been able to turn left on Jack Trice Way from that far west lane. Two of the games they've let us turn left, two of them they've made both lanes of traffic turn right. Yesterday I just ignored the guy and went left.

Resurrecting this thread because I attended my first game this past Sunday vs. Omaha, and with maybe a 50-60% capacity crowd the parking traffic going INTO the game was just ridiculous.

The entire south end of the donor lot traffic goes in via one entrance between C5 and D5, no matter what direction you come from.

And a lot of that time, the traffic from S. 5th into the lots is not even moving at all. So there everyone sits out through the stoplight on University.

This is going to be a nightmare for conference play. I know this may be an in-between situation with the state of construction -- at least I hope so -- because this is simply ridiculous.

Plan accordingly with your arrival time allotment.

Leaving the lots, a bunch of people were 'following the rules' lining up to leave out the entrance between C5 and D5 and I said screw that and went out the C5 exit, ultimately going west instead of toward University directly.

Since the south C5 exit has now been open the past two games, I think it has helped the over all situation a little. Going West from that exit does lighten the load on University. If it would be designated as a right turn only exit, it would help even more. When I have exited from there, both times, there has been someone wanting to turn left towards University, holding up everyone behind them wanting to turn right.

I'm honestly debating parking a half mile away and just getting a cheap Uber to pick me up across the street from Hilton for conference play this year. $10 is worth getting home 30 min earlier on weeknights.

I park on N Riverside Drive and make the 5-10 minute walk to Hilton. Much easier to leave after a game imo.

Looking at the map, if you can score a decent spot on that street it's nearly an equivalent walk to the donor lots I would be parking in, relatively close to JTS.

And really anything in the south-half of the Hilton reserved lots would not be so big a yardage difference that the little extra walk would not be worth it 100x with the ease of getting out...or getting in!

Uber is terrible in Ames, might be different on gamedays but doubt it. Park in the neighborhoods just West of Hilton around the sororities and then take the backroads if you're heading back towards DSM.

East of Hilton works even better

Took us 25min to get out, all this money redoing lots why didn't they spend a little more to have exits straight to University? Our lot was still probably half full when we made it out.
