Is the C5 gate barricaded by fence/chain or by wooden easily moveable barricade?
Because if I’m sitting there for 45 mins and not moving, I’m bringing these next game. Sorry JP, my sleep is more important than a $5 lock. Fix the problem and open up more exits or lose fan attendance.

It's a steel gate with supports going into the ground. I saw lots of people just driving over the curb and around it.

Was there a barricade there?

There were closed gates. But people just started going over the curb and around the gates.

I will also add that we only parked in C5 because our designated lot was full. Which leads to another gripe but whatever.

I hate to give away my secret, but I parked in the intramural lots (kitty corner to D5), and it is always so easy to leave. Turn right onto S 4th and make your way to South Duff via S Grand and SE 16th. I left after the final horn, stopped in the bathroom on the way out, and was on S 4th within 2 minutes of getting to my car.

No issues crossing University before or after the game, I'm guessing?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a donor lot full for basketball.

Traffic getting in was bad as well, we left Norwalk at 5:30pm, had no traffic issues getting to Ames, we got off HWY 30 onto University by 6:30pm and still didn't make it into the game before tip. Then, at 6:59pm, with University still fully backed up, all the yellow vests who were supposed to be checking parking passes and helping traffic flow walked away and headed into the stadium.

Getting out of the lots is harder with the new lots because of all the curbs the put up, each aisle used to be able to go directly to an exit lane, but now they have created bottle necks by forcing all lanes into only two exits per lot.

It was terribly frustrating last night and put a huge damper on a fun game. When we are getting home at nearly 11pm on a weeknight from a 7pm tipoff, it certainly makes you think twice about attending those games.

As a pedestrian? Not at all. Cross northbound along the east leg and cross westbound along the north leg.

Then after the game, I usually cross University in between stopped traffic closer to the stadium than that intersection.

Some of the sororities rent parking spots during football games, maybe contact them. Usually 5 minutes and we are on duff.

Nah, just press the ped crossing button at the light, it only stops the flow of traffic on university for a few minutes.

I wouldn't think those would work after the game, but guessing there are ample chances to go between stopped cars like the other poster suggested.

Same, my lot was full, and it appeared multiple lots were, we saw cars coming back out of lots before the game, assuming they couldn't find a spot. And there was nobody there directing lots or making sure people even had passes.

Running into a wall trying to find anyone to email about this? Any ideas? Who is in charge of donor parking? Just mail the NCC?

I’ve had good luck actually emailing Pollard. I know he probably doesn’t see the email but I do think the feed back is taken into consideration.

Caveats:

1. I’ve only emailed him two or three times.

2. I’m exceedingly polite and thankful and nice.

Several years ago I emailed about an intersection that didn’t have a cop or a traffic light after football games. It seemed pretty dangerous at night because cars were trying to turn and pedestrians were trying to cross. The VERY next week there was a sign warning cars to look for people. And now there’s a light and a cop, which is probably overkill. But the sign was helpful.

Picked up a C1 pass from someone at work. We were like 20 ft from the bottom of the steps and it took like 1 minute to get out when we left. Parking is gonna be even more annoying now that I know how the other folks live.
We've been parking north of Schemann for several years now, since they built that exit onto eastbound Lincoln Way. I don't miss the cluster f that is the C lots. We got out of there before they started their work on CyTown.

I usually will get annoyed walking through the lots since they are empty. From the sounds of it they just need people to actually direct traffic and check passes.

We were there early enough last night to try and plan our trip down to Texas so didn’t have issues getting in.

Another participant in the C5 nightmare last night. The gate onto Jack Trice Way needs to be opened up. I don't remember any issues like last night when I parked there last season.

I was in C4 and it was a total crapshow. We stayed after the game in Hilton and bought some shirts at Cy's locker room and everything. The postgame show as almost over by the time we got out of the lots. TJ was just wrapping up.

It’s been bad for a long time not just this year IMO. I always park near the Jacobsen to facilitate an early exit.

As far as leaving the game early, would have never considered it prior to having kids, but I can’t get my elementary aged kids home at 11pm on a weeknight. We left at 2 min mark and got home to north Ankeny at 9:40. I suspect this would have been 11pm if we waited. Hate that I do this, but it’s the way it has to be with the parking lots.

Yeah we live in Ankeny and it was about 10:45.

The walk from G6 into the wind sucked last night but we got out of the lot in about 30 seconds when the game was over. Definitely made the walk seem worth it.
