Which 3 (thats how many schollies we got left) would you like the most.

My short list: Craig Brackins (committed)
P'Allen Stinnet ( a great shooter, and is quick and explosive)

Andre McFarland (seems like a very athletic shooting guard/small forward, i think he can create alot of mismatches for some teams)

Diante Garret ( seems like he is a recruit flying under the radar, and is a very tall point guard/shooting guard)

That would be a great 07 class, and the 08 class could be just as good.

Thoughts?

I agree with you. I would really be excited about McFarland because of the mismatches he'd make. Garrett would be awesome because of his height and his great upside. I would also really like Stinnet, but i am getting concerned that it may not happen. I think it is important for us is to get a good shooter. Last 2 years we have had no one that is a great shooter. I think a shooter is a must. I just would like our ability in the future to have the ability to go with a small lineup or a big one and both would be athletic.

I think andre mcfarland would be a good pickup if for nothing else than the fact he will be playing with brackins and stinnett. It would be great to have 3/4 of our recruiting class to have played with each other a year before they hit campus. Add diante garrett to compliment them all with nifty passes and a great jump shot and i would love to see those guys as seniors. i'll keep my fingers crossed.

Without Seeing the Players in Action its Tough

A team can never have enough great jump shooters or enough big guys. I guess I'd like to see the following:

PG- Garrett - We need a guy to take over when McIntyre uses up his eligibility.

WG- The best 3 point shooter/perimeter defender combo amongst Stinnett, Hoffarber, Peterson & McFarland

Post- Brackins & ?????. I was hoping we would get Leuer but that doesn't seem likely. I'm still leary of a post group comprised of Hubalek, Marsden, Thompson, C. Johnson & Brackins. By the 2007 season Hubalek will be a Sr and Alex Thompson will be a Jr. I'd like more young blood since Marsden, C. Johnson & Brackins are all unproven commodities.

If we can't get a 2nd big man, then I'd take the best shooter among the 4 wing players listed and whoever is the best shooter/defender among Peterson & McFarland.

I assume that by "McIntyre" you meant Cory McIntosh.

Stinnett

I don't think Stinnett is slipping interest in ISU with time. From what I have read, it sounds like he is taking his time after feeling a bit burned by committing early last year. I get the feeling he really likes ISU, but if a big name program (read Kansas) offers, he may well go there. Kansas has several offers out to higher rated players, so that may be what he is waiting for, just to see if an offer is coming there. If not, then he would go elsewhere. I think he also knows playing out East will get him added exposure too. I would love to see him and McFarland pull the trigger together!

GoClones,

That would be my list as well. I think the combination of skills brought to the table by this group would bring the most upside to ISU BB. I was hoping we could land one or two of these guys early before other schools became involved. I am still holding out faint hope that Vanwright would join ISU for '06.

Above all others, Diante Garrett. I've seen this kid play. He tore up Las Vegas last week. This kid will be a big time player, maybe even NBA caliber like his dad.

After that I would agree with McFarland and Stinnet. I don't mention Brackins because he has already committed.

I would love to see Leuer in the house too but I don't think the chances are good.

Re: Diante

I think Coach Otzelberger made the initial contact because he knew ol Diante through his strong ties in Milwaukee. TJ is friends with Tom Diener, Diante's high school coach. He also knows Diante's father **** rather well. An interesting side note is that **** Garrett is a ref and actually worked some of TJ's high school games in Milwaukee 10 years ago.

I believe johnsonjj may be correct. The staff really wants this kid so GMac may have taken the lead role. As a matter of fact, I think GMac and Coach Rutter are in Milwaukee this week for a visit to Vincent HS again.

This is a player ISU must have. I hope he makes a decision soon before all the schollies are gone.

Garrett

I don't "know" but had read several reports of McD being up in the Milwaukee area. On the rivals site (free info) it shows McD as the recruiter.

They are definitely in Milwaukee this week.

The rivals site also shows GMac as having recruited Corey McIntosh but that was Coach Otzelberger's deal all the way. I don't know what rival's source is for who recruits whom but who really cares as long as the players end up Clones. It's a team effort by the staff.
