OSU is going to be a tough task for a depleted ISU team this week, but it is another great opportunity for the young guys to continue to test themselves and develop.

125 Terukina vs Matrogiovanni - a battle of two true freshman. Mastro came in with a much higher profile, so going with him by decision until proven otherwise. OSU 3-0
133 - Redding vs Witcraft - No Fix yet for OSu this year which gives ISU a chance here. I'll take Redding by dec. 3-3
141 - Parker vs Hone - Parker too much for Hone. Looking for him to get a turn on top and then his usual solid self on his feet RT and a takedown for the major. ISU 7-3
149 - Robinson vs Lewallen - Hoping for Robinson here. Lewallen still way too much for the young guy, but think Robinson keeps it to a major. Probably a tech or pin w/out him. OSU 7-7.
157 - Carr vs Sheets - Haven't seen Sheets much, but thinking he's in the lineup for this. He's kept it close in the past so I'm going Carr by decision. ISU 10-7.
165 - Wittlake vs Judge - Wittlake by major. OSU 11-10.
174 - Broderson vs Plott - Plott is only a true freshman, but a blue chip recruit. I'd love to see Broderson win and think he can, but going with Plott by Dec. OSU 14-10
184 - Battani vs Greer - Wish we had Colbray for this one. Battani battles hard, but gives up a major to former AA Greer. OSU 18-10
197 - Bastida vs Ferrari - Ferrari was the #1 P4P recruit in the country. He's only a true freshman, but ready to compete for NCAA finals right away. Hoping Bastida can keep this on his feet and thus keep it to a decision. OSU 21-10
285 - Gremmel vs Harris - I don't believe they have ever met. Harris is solid, but shouldn't be able to beat Gremmel. Going with Gremmel by Dec and OSU wins 21-13.

So we would need Broderson to win and maybe get a pin in there somewhere maybe from Ian or David (or Gremmel)? And not get pinned at any of the upper weights of course...

I didn't realize OSU didn't have some of their firepower back yet.

I really wouldn’t even entertain the idea of ISU pulling off an upset. I already have a lot going right in my prediction. It’s far more likely that things spin out of control to the negative with things like Redding losing, giving up big bonus at 97 and 49.

True. I’m not expecting much. Hopefully it’s tight matches that make me think we can flip a few of them in a month when we see them at the Big 12s

Seems like a fair prediction.

I feel like our guys have adjusted and improved from week to week so I'm hoping the young guys especially pull out some nice matches and we end up keeping things close.

I'm waiting for Redding and Terukina to let loose and assert themselves at their weights. Feels like the potential is there.

Obviously, we're all hoping to beat the pokes with an upset or two and some good bonus, but the above prediction seems pretty realistic.

Unfortunately I don't see this going well. OSU easily at 125 but a decision. I don't see Redding beating Witcraft, could get ugly. Hone will give Parker a good match. Boo gets 6 at 149 I don't see Cam going. Carr will have a tough time with Sheets but win by decision. Wittlake will tech Judge I think. Plott is really good but Broderson can beat him with a good start. I'm with you thou and Plott is the pick. Battani is not beating Geer or too many other Big 12 184lbers. 197 hoping for loss by decision. Gremmel looks good and wins by 3.

lose 25 - 9 but will get better by Big 12's and if healthy I'm picking the Cyclones!

Posted this in another thread but seemed applicable here for those interested. I emailed Steve Malchow in the AD asking why we can’t get a stream to the first two duals tomorrow. Asked why they can’t put a feed on Facebook like they did for the wrestle offs or something so we can see those matches. Unfortunately, I can’t go tomorrow now so I was curious.

Here’s what he said:

The broadcast rights for all Big 12 sports (wrestling included) belong to the league as part of the Big 12 Now / ESPN+ online network. The Oklahoma State dual at 7 p.m. tomorrowwas chosen for telecast on that network, but the other two duals were not. All live home events are part of the Big 12's inventory for Big 12 Now / ESPN+.

Earlier this season we did receive an exception for the team wrestle-offs to be shown on Facebook Live. Because the league and ESPN agreed our wrestle-offs were not official collegiate matches, we were given permission to show those matches on Facebook Live. That permission is not granted for regular-season collegiate duals, so the Lindenwood and Iowa Central matches will not be televised in any fashion. Neither of those schools can override our rights agreements with the Big 12 as we are the host institution.

I hate to agree with the dual sentiment depicted here, but I do. Almost every word.

I wonder why just the one dual is allowed to be a part of the broadcast Saturday.

They seemed to have no trouble showing both the Loras and UNK duals the same day just a couple of weeks ago.

My follow up is why wouldn’t they broadcast the other duals. That was the point of the ESPN+ stuff. It isn’t like they only have so many channels since it is streaming.

It makes no sense. I’d have lots of follow up questions.
If an exception is needed, was one requested?

If one was requested and denied, what was ESPN’s reason for denial. If they’re not doing anything with it why would they care?

Does ESPN have the right to not show any match they choose? Could they simply decide not to show the OSU match either? If so, why would ISU sign off on such a deal?

So how did Flo broadcast the Oklahoma dual - was it because it was at UNI ? are they not part of this Big12 agreement ?

Yes since UNI is not a real member of the Big 12. Just an affiliate for wrestling. All UNI home duals on Flo.

I’m shocked that he took the time to respond to a question from the peasants

This is just my guess but I don't think it was one of those where wrestling specifically had a choice in the matter. Clearly, it was a lot of money talk on why choices were made the way they were. It is unfortunate they've kind of are just picking and choosing what they feel is most important. I appreciate we'll get the OSU match up tonight but it would be nice if they allowed Lindenwood/Iowa Central to be streamed on facebook.

It is nice that Steve responded! and I don't think he's trying to be a **** or really has much control in this matter.
