We have a tournament in Basketball, so theoretically, we are the champion, correct? I mean that's how they do it in football.

I don't like it myself, to be honest. It puts way too much weight on whichever of the top teams has home field that given year. Just leave it up to the committee.

Head-to-head is as fair as it gets.

Big 12 will have One True Champion now. Article doesn't say, but I believe this is for football only. KU rule of sharing title will probably still apply in basketball.

It's about time.

A true round-robin league that put a lot of emphasis (and marketing $) trumpeting "One True Champion," yet it took three seasons to realize, oh yeah, maybe we need to establish a tiebreaker system.

And they make more money than a lot of us...

On a neutral field, yes.

Home-road imbalance could be a factor, true, but you also have to consider which teams each school faces home & away. Specifics of that can vary from season to season. It's possible to include venue in the equation, but how much more weight does it hold compared to everything else within the other tiebreakers?

If the Big 12 was split into divisions last year, and the two best basketball teams from the N and S played, it'd be Kansas vs Oklahoma at Sprint Center for the Championship.

North: KU, ISU, WVU, OSU, KSU
South: OU, BU, UT, TCU, TTU

I want to say 2 or 3 of KU's titles were shared and they lost head to head.
