***Official 2025 Weather Thread***

Well it is meteorological summer which is based on monthly average temps that make June, July and August the hottest months on average and not based on an astronomical phase that has no impact on actual weather.
Sorry, forgot about that definition. How about if I say, it’s not my anniversary yet? That’s tomorrow.

This is ball soup weather.

Today I was working on water lines and a hose sprayed a bunch of water on me. I only noticed when it hit my shirt because my balls had already made a puddle.

This seems like a description of a low budget porn film. Right down to your balls making a puddle.

Unbelievable amount of rain coming down in Johnston right now. Full on monsoon. Gutters can't keep up.

Well, that was a "fun" drive from N Ankeny to WDM. Rolled the pants up and wore the sports slides (not dress code approved) into work to keep my shoes dry. Had a river running through the parking lot.

It's an absolute greenhouse environment along the IA/MN border. 1/2" of rain every day, highs in the mid 90's this weekend, rain and highs in the 80's every day next week.

Everything is growing like crazy.

Just over 1" in Waukee this AM. That puts us at 3" on the week and 4" on the month. Really glad I mowed last night, can't wait to do it again Saturday.

Can honestly say the watering ban isn't impacting me one bit - honestly think lawn is greener than it would be if I was running my irrigation.

Yeah, if anyone around Des Moines still feels the need to water their lawn, they've got a problem.

I'm really just bummed that my rain barrel I ordered didn't get here sooner so I could have caught some of this rain to water my garden this weekend. Of course it's out for delivery today so missed it by like 8 hours.

If you've ever thought about a rain barrel - check with your cities Storm Water department, from what I've seen most offer rebates for them. Waukee and West Des Moines also offer assistance if you want to do Soil Quality Restoration (spreading compost/dirt on your lawn), which I'm going to do next spring in a hope to not only help the lawn, but level it out a bit.

around .4" in Ames this morning almost 1.5 inches since Sunday. Got to pea/marble size hail for a few minutes.
