Funnel cloud over Griswold earlier and Exira . Everyone East of here be prepared for pop up tornadoes. Been up since 3:30 following this crap. Stay safe.

Not how I wanted to fully wake up this morning. And looking at radar, the heavy stuff will be here right when I'm wanting to head to work.

This cell is big but doesn't look as intense on radar. Bird just chirping away outside my window in Johnston. Should be a promising sign of safety.

My wife wanted to get an uninterrupted night of sleep tonight.

Then the sirens came.

Then the dogs did a howl with the sirens.

So much for that.

Good morning fellow fanatics. Nothing like waking up to the blissful sound of a tornado alert blaring on the smart phone, followed by some invigorating exercise of carrying sleeping children down to the basement.
I just happened to wake up at 430 and saw the tornado warning heading towards Ames and stayed up. All 3 of the phones in the house got the warning when it was issued for us but none of the phones went off. Was weird.
