2 seconds to go. Free throw missed.

Clock starts .5 early.

1.3 runs off and it's blown dead.

Ball is advanced to the side out of bounds which is closest to the point of interruption.

.7 left on the clock + .5 early start = 1.2 seconds.

That was all done correctly.
So, with this rule. If they just wait until after the horn to blow the play dead v then you get. 5 seconds. Your time depends on how quickly one official can figure out that another official made a mistake? This is where I say they probably called it correctly. But that is a stupid rule.

If you can use the replay to determine when things went wrong, correct it at the mess up, not when another official realizes that it happened a little while ago. That is a stupid rule. Not saying they didn't follow it, just that it is stupid.

Feel like King is pretty feast or famine depending on the matchup. Played great against KU and really struggled tonight

He's bad when he's not facing tbe basket. If he gets the balk down low with his back to the basket it usually fails. If also like BRE to where he also fails If he labors as he either forces BS or gets trapped.

It's the rebounding and space cadets on defense that get me more. He is a broad bodied guy who is fairly athletic. Yet you will never see someone **** up easier rebounds more than him. When he blocks out he mistimss his jump or sometimes doesn't jump at all. Often times he fails to block out at all. He also is one of the worst offenders when it comes to sagging and leaving his man or ball watching on a loose ball and forgetting his man entirely. useless on the boards and defense tonight.

We really needed Ward at tbe end but he committed some really dumb fouls. He needs to eliminate those as we need him in the last 5 minutes of gamed like this
Tonight it was his own damn fault.

You do know that Jakes 3pt shooting dropped his last three years? Went down around 10% from his sophomore to his senior year. Did he practice less?
There was bigger fish to fry when he was underclassmen. Guarded 3s are different to me than free throws.

Lol I think our staff and players know that getting better at FTs is going to be hugely helpful. It's pretty obviously a weakness. But something you can only improve so much. I guarantee they work on it
Need to hire a shooting coach to teach mechanics. BRE is leaning back every time he takes a FT. Something’s gotta change.

Hell, a former Baylor player in the NBA started shooting FTs one-handed and went up 30% on his FTs.

The funny thing, Baylor was 11-11 on their FT's then when the pressure got turned up as game got close they made 5 of 12.

Guys are human...

Yeah the first several minutes we missed a bunch of really good looks at the basket

We have the weakest bigs in the league when it comes to going up from the floor with tbe ball. The number of times King, BRe, and even Ward will get blocked or blow them is absurd. Ward is a monster with put backs and BRE is fine there too, but King just sucks near the basket. He shouldn't but he does.

I wonder if the quick 2nd technical, the refs were thinking that they didn't want another Tang incident charging TJ? Not that I think that would have happened, but they might have talked about such things before the game. Just a thought I had when it happened so fast.
Go ahead and light me up. Tang didn’t charge TJ. He was looking for TJs help.

We played good/great for about 6 minutes while Baylor was melting down and the refs were throwing around Baylor Ts and fouls like Oprah. The rest of the game was pretty bad and we closed like crap. Too bad. It was there for the taking. Hopefully we don't have a hangover for Texas.
Agree, good summary.

Here’s my positive spin I guess. Tre was non existent, we couldn’t hit a damn free throw and had bad turnovers in big moments and still only lost by 2 on the road tonight. Curtis jones was t good either. Gilbert is finding his way like we all hoped and the team needs. They just have to start hitting free throw’s consistently better.

I am to the point where I feel like certain guys should catch the free throw pass from the ref and catch and shoot or make a basketball move from the line…lol
We seem to be better at making harder shots

New arena creates a great atmosphere, but given their success under Drew, how are they not able to sell out a larger arena? especially how close they are to DFW. Not to mention, they have students behind our bench in premium seats. Wild.
Hoops is not that big in Texas.

I didn’t act like anything. Free throw shooting all comes down to practice practice practice. its repetition, and building muscle memory. Saying “they’re not a good free throw shooting team" is an excuse and that’s all.
Agree. The mental hoops some here go through to exaggerate and be offended by certain fan opinions…
