Chizik said many times there were guys that redshirted that could have played. So again, I don't think your comment on redshirting is accurate.

I think we can agree about there being allot of competition on the line going into nest year though, which is a good thing!

I understand what you're saying. We'll just have to agree to disagree. I just think in 95% of cases, you don't recruit junior college players with the intent of redshirting them. You recruit them to provide immediate depth and hopefully compete on the field. If I'm wrong in that I guess I just totally have the wrong idea about coaches intentions when recruiting junior college players.

Speaking of JUCOs, whatever happened to C. Mack? Seems like he would be another mammoth Olineman that could come in right away.

I agree with KMAC. ISU needs to recruit JUCOs to be competitive. There just isn't the speed in-state and many of the good players in TX or FL are picked over. We need at least a few JUCOs every year as a talent boost.

Besides, if you look at ISU's best players the last five years, a good portion of them were JUCOs. For every Blythe, Meyer, Leaders, Brant, there is Wallace, Dobbins, L.Hicks, Bowen, not to mention our current starting CB. I don't think ISU fans can discount what JUCOs have done for us.

Chizik Will Be Patient

When asked about recruiting JUCO players during his radio show, Chizik has made it sound like we will only sign a couple JUCO players this year. Now that plan might change now that the season is over & they see some glaring gaps.

However, I do not see the WR position a glaring need. We have Hamilton, Sumrall, Messiah. We have a committment from a JUCO in Graham. If Bates doesn't beat out Arnaud, I would expect him to play WR. Similar to what Meier did at KU this year. I would also hope that Franklin benefits from off season workouts and can contribute next season. Throw Jones, Montgomery & Sanvig into the mix and we have enough bodies at WR.

IMO the key at the WR position is to bring in a couple HS WR's who can redshirt and maybe hit the field as in 2009.

One comment I'd make on coaches not recruiting JUCO's to sit the bench. IMO Gene Chizik knew he had a mulligan this year from the fans. If there was a true freshman or JUCO who wasn't clearly better than an existing starter- Gene was willing to redshirt him. I think that's where kids like Collin Franklin & Alvarez fit in.
