NOTES from today's scrimmage

So that rules out Rohach as starting qb, dang!

Means we can still get 4 years of him starting. I really like his arm, especially with where we are going with the OL, RBs, and WRs.

Just saw a CPR quote from late July saying that he might not name a QB until the end of August.

PR also feels this way. In the interview today said red shirting all these kids is "a very good thing for the program."
Amen to that. When I heard this, it almost made me forget about the QB drama. People need to snap out of their Jantz vs. Barnett funk and realize how HUGE this milestone is in the building of this program. If you can redshirt nearly all of a freshman class, that is great news when it comes to player development.

My earliest detailed memories of ISU and Big 8/12 football started somewhere in the early 90s, but I seem to remember that this was what the Husker program was built upon. The oldtimers can correct me if I'm wrong, but when Nebraska was rolling, Osborne typically redshirted their entire freshman class.

As for selling recruits on playing time and playing "immediately", nothing precludes you from playing to ego. If a HS junior thinks he's good enough to play as a freshman, and you tell him you think he could come in and earn it without making any promises, you can still get those guys and run an honest program.

I wonder if Quan West might have not RS if he hadn't gotten injured? I think he had a real shot at playing this year as a true freshman. 6'4" and 210 lb WR's don't come around all too often.

Just my opinion but I think it is very doubtful that West would have played as a true freshman. WR is too deep of a position.

You must not have watched our team lately. As I recall, at one point Woody was the only healthy non-redshirting back.

I don't know, the only one of the five (including Tyler Leo) who didn't play in last Saturday's scrimmage was Shontrelle. And he's played since. Personally, I don't expect either Standard or Leo to get any snaps at RB this year unless there are major injuries.

Probably not a bad ploy to keep Tulsa guessing as to who will be at QB, publicly. The team can tell by who is getting the most reps.

Well us fans would like to know. It makes us think that we have a reallllly bad QB problem. Thats not good on our blood pressure.

What ever happened to Quinton Pompey? I haven't seen him anywhere after being a fairly good recruit according to Rivals.
