No more Brock please!

Wow, we bring him in cold off the bench for some 3 point shooting and he chucks up 2 ugly 3's. Please leave him on the bench at all costs, thank you! I can't remember the last time he's even hit a 3.

if he's not gonna play hardly at all 90% of the game, don't put him in at the very end when you need 3's to catch up....I don't believe in just bringing in guys who are situational shooters, especially when they are off the bench cold. I didn't like how ISU used John Neal before either...They should've run something to Taylor or Welsey, the guys who had actually been making 3's throughout the game & SEASON. If he wants to get Brock more playing time bcuz he actually believes he can contribute - than FINE, McD is a better coach than me, but don't just put him in at the last tale end.

In English??? Straight forward, with no spin??? With stats to back up your arguments??? I am lost, is there another way to express your opinion????

Oh yeah Avery, agree with you, and people who think along the same lines, or your WRONG!!!!!. MY BAD:no6xn:, I forgot.

I think he meant to express your negative opinion without coming across as ripping on the players and/or appearing to take joy in their failures.

Where do you see the joy??? When it comes to evaluating performances, I am objective, if the guy screws up I am not going to say that he made a great play. Just because Iowa State is my favorite team, doesn't mean that I have blinders on.

I know what you, and Avery mean, don't think for a minute I don't. It has nothing to do with players. I'm sorry that I don't like being told what to think, especially when it is wrong.

Even Rudy got into the Notre Dame Game one time.

It is funny that the main idea in basketball is to put the ball in the hoop and he can't really do it that well. Great in practice though. He can light it up. My old high school football coach would have loved him. Probably started him in every game. My old coach loved Practice guy. To bad he did not like game time guy.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with calling a spade a spade. If we suck, there's no problem saying so, and I definitely wouldn't want to tell you what to think. I don't think Brock's a Big 12 player right now any more than you do. I just think it seems like every time you're posting on here it's something negative about our players/team. Sometimes I almost think you're hoping one of your whipping boys like Brock will screw up so you can come post about it. All I'm saying is nobody likes a Debbie Downer...wa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.:frown3qg:

When you question a student-athlete for a lack of hustle, or dedication it's one thing...when you rip on a kid that's busting his tail it's another...but whatever works I guess...root for them when they win and talk about how much they suck and degrade the players when they lose if that's what you're into. Everybody is certainly entitled to their own opinion.

I couldn't agree with you more. Some of these comments are pathetic. Can't help but wonder how many of these "Brock bashers" ever played basketball or any other sport beyond the grade school level.

Nice...While basketball knowledge is important when braking down tape, I'm pretty sure chucking one off the side of the backboard is pretty straight forward to access....also, I could pop those 8 foot three pointers on my 8 foot hoop in 5th grade, so don't even try to bring that.

What is your point???

I didn't start the thread, read it again, and tell me who was ripping Brock Jacobsen. Now, I did say that his playing time would diminish when Greg recruits over him, but I don't see that as ripping.

What I said was that Brock has the slowest release quite possibly in D 1 BB, and that he wasn't as athletic as Jon Neal. So if that is ripping then I guess that I am guilty, sorry Brock.

I have been on here talking up Greg, and Gene, and the jobs that they are doing, were is the ripping, where is the downer???
I have defended Mike Taylor, when there are threads with titles calling him dumb, explaining that he is unlucky, because he won't have enough good players around him to show what he can truly do, where is the downer???

Now, I was on Jiri, but not due to talent, it was attitude, now that has been improved, I said that, where's the downer???

In fact there has only been one subject on here where I have been negative consistently about...So if you aren't talking about that, then I believe that you are mistaken.

Brock is a walk-on that is living out his dream of playing D-1 basketball...he works harder than any of you know, and obviously he must be doing something right for McDermott to think he should see minutes. (McDermott is a little smarter than any of us). Obviously Brock isn't too athletic, and he is obviously struggling from the field...but it's just flat out stupid for so-called Cyclone "fans" to rip a Cyclone that is trying his hardest to shreds just because he is really struggling...I can guarantee you he is taking it harder than any of you, and this sh*t probably doesn't help.
I haven't seen a better definition of fair weather fan than the one you just gave. I don't have a problem with criticism, but I do believe that fans should at least be respectful of their own players. How about saying, "he needs to work on his defense, or quickness" or whatever instead of calling him an NAIA level talent. It's like a whole bipolar society with severe mood swings with every win and loss. Look back at the posts, and you can tell wins and losses without seeing the score. Every win has people singing the praises of whoever did well, while every loss has people relegating our players to Division II. Many times, it's the same player, different game.

I am sure he can hit shots in practice. But look at the talent difference he goes up against in practice vs. games. We are 3-7 in league and 7-12 against decent d1 teams. He is playing against better players in games.

I haven't bothered to read through this entire thread, but I believe Brock is scheduled to have knee surgery when the season is over.

Well :baffled5wh: that explains :laugh8kb: the shooting problem. :dull8ay: He cannot get the lift :rofl8yi: to miss the side :sad9cd: of the backboard.:wink0st:

I do not expect Brock to play in this game. He personally caused a turnaround of minus five points in the last game besides the missed shots. He cannot stay with the people he is guarding. If he is injured, he also should not play. We have too many better players. We are bad enough that we do not need to make it worse. And will we see Mike Smith this year? It all comes down to what are you doing for me this game. We need at least three more wins to feel good about ourselves. Time is running out. I will be disappointed if we win fewer games than we dio last year. People gave me negative rep for my comment above but Brock has been a negative in the last four games he has been in. Now the other teams want him to shoot the three and they leave him open.

I have to give props to Brock tonight. He hit his first made 3 since the 1st Big 12 game tonight in garbage minutes.
