Rather amazing how all our "expert" opinions and comments take on a different tone when the facts of life are revealed, huh? Just more evidence that the coaching staff knows what is really happening WAY before any of us do.
Huh?

I think the defense held on both of the terrible punts. Might've only given up 3 points if my memory serves. But we were losing the field position battle all day.

And against an opponent with Iowa's philosophy, losing field position battle can be a dealbreaker. And if your running game is non-existent on top of it, probably spells trouble. We also didn't have a game plan to exploit advantages we had.

A missed and a made chipshot FG by Iowa on the two shanked punts. But what a horrible offensive game. The first drive 66 yards. Lots of short passes, primarily to DM and Croney that were effective. Remaining 10 drives - 122 yard and a turnover. Iowa's defense was very good and deserves lots of credit, but that was brutal offense.
