New OC

Let's see if I remember this....

Technically, ISU has to have a job posting and have the job posted for 14 days. Doesn't mean CPR has not already done some legwork; just trying to remember from previous openings.

And if I'm wrong, someone will correct me.

People are getting their hopes up thinking we will hear really quickly. CPR and JP will want to interview multiple guys and do their due diligence. Then you have to factor in coaches still coaching like Fresno and NIU OCs.

Anyone know if either of the two internal candidates Chris mentions in his posting about the change at OC had any part in the play calling the last two games? That might shed some light if there will be any internal promotions or not. It almost seemed like a different guy was calling the shots after the first 5 series against WV.

Florida fired their OC today as well...

Christensen was a Head Coach who had been a successful OC for 16 years under Pinkel at multiple stops. Probably the best hire since he was successful as an OC for years and years. HC job went so-so but he did take Wyoming to a couple of bowls. And his team only lost by 3 at Nebraska this year.

FYI we can all apply for the position as it will be posted online. Also, I think mangino would be like the doc sadler of our football team, but you know, with offense. Also we have those treadmills he could use.

Mess was still calling the plays. Except Rohach was told by Rhoads to do the OPPOSITE of what Mess wanted to call. Because Mess' play calling sucked.

Florida was one of few offenses worse than ours and it wasn't particularly close. I like Christensen but that may be bordering our edge of attainability. I think he will be in very very high demand. I'd take Mangino too.

Looks like GR can handle the bad weather games, the ones where our opponents are not as good as from the deep south.

Do not want.

I was meaning that Florida could be looking at Christensen...

Yeah, wouldn't be surprised to see this take till January. Going to take awhile.

You don't think Bob Cole at NIU is a possibility? My guess is there would be a big pay raise for him if he does come to ISU. Look at what Lynch has done, plus he's a Heisman candidate. Coach Cole also leads a top ten offense in the BCS subdivision. Seems to me an excellent candidate for OC/QB coach.

Edit: Only if CPR is willing to wait until after bowl season to get him. If not, Christensen would be my next choice.

On these hires, we need to be patient. The men CPR wants to fill the vacancies may still be coaching in January. We truly don't know who CPR has in mind.

I'm not positive on this, but I seem to recall that Jamie Pollard went through a consulting firm to find Dan mcCarney's replacement.

:jimlad:

For a head coach hire this could be beneficial. When hiring for an assistant the head coach drives the process.

The job will be posted on the ISU human resources website...so, all you Monday morning QBs, polish up your resume!! :-)

Makes no difference if they are still coaching. CPR contacts the AD and asks for permission. If permission given interviews can happen whenever regardless of whether a team is playing or not...
