Though mathematically alive, we might not play in the NCAA games in DesMoines this year. But, the Rag reports that they've announced first round sites in Iowa for the next two years.

"The 2009 games at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City will be played March 21 and 23 or March 22 and 24.

The 2010 games will be at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, either March 20 and 22 or March 21 and 23."

ISU wouldn't be guaranteed playing at IC next year, but, it would be a good idea. The whole team will return and ought to be very competitive. It would be a shame not to be in the tournament at Hilton. We'll need a new post and a couple of other new players by then. The sophs will be seniors and Bolte will be outstanding.

So I guess they didn't want Iowa City to feel left out? Or maybe they thought this great run Iowa was having lately means they are starting to get good? Sorry, gotta be option #1. Since we are missing two of our top players it would be great if we could play in the Big 10 and go on an 8 game winning streak and then have all of the media talking about us. Great Lisa Bluder got 500 wins...how long did it take her to get there? Hey you're in first place, great job the Big 10 blows!

Do I think the NCAA Tourney would be a lock had we not had the injuries?...Yes
Am I jealous of the attention Iowa is getting?...Yes, but I guess the media has been looking for any attention to give them in the last several years.
Am I ranting?...Ok maybe a bit. (End Rant)

Yep...next year should be the year, in my opinion, that we have the best shot at threatening for the Big XII title. Assuming Wieben and Ross make full recoveries, we'll have a strong (very experienced) front-court with both offensive and defensive strength. Add Lacey, Bolte, Ezell, another shooter in Williams and a true point guard in Yackley...you have to be excited!

24 seasons, including 6 at NAIA St. Ambrose.
Her first 169 wins came with SA (28.2 per year)
She has 331 D-1 wins in 18 seasons (18.4 per year)

By contrast, Fennelly has 440 D-1 wins in 20 seasons (22.0 per year).

We should be really good next year. We will be really talented, and will have the height and the shooting to compete.

This is kind of random, but does anyone remember the name of the commit (I'm pretty sure she committed) from Michigan? I'm really fuzzy on details (I'm not even sure on what class she's in), but I think she was coming off a leg injury, had aspirations of dunking the ball before the end of her career and her coach called her one of the better players in the nation (although this was a pretty questionable statement). I really hope I'm not crazy and made all of this up...if so...no more following recruiting for me for a while...

Schroll was the last name.

Thanks for all of the great info. I was excited about this year...and still am, but disappointed about our luck. Looks like a great ISU future. If ISU makes the Tourney next year, the only chance Iowa has of packing Carver is if ISU is playing there...it would feel great to pack CHA with Cardinal and Gold...ya know spruce it up a bit.

Could be wrong, but, my recollection is that Jessica Schroll, Michigan AAU player - final four and WNBA bound - in the class of 2009, is still heading our way. Kathleen Scheer from Missouri is the tall guard who escaped to Duke. I didn't see a story with both of they going that way.
