Dr Gene Lloyd (the lloyd who's name is on the side of the VET MED addition) just told me that He, JP, GG, Harkin, Grassley and 3 or 4 US House members were all in a suite up in the pressbox Saturday and they met again yesterday. I ask Dr. L if the Big XII would survive and all he would say was "change is good" and "we will be more than just alright." He's 87 and sharp as a tack and is NUTS about ISU. Quietly given millions upon millions. While telling me this, his smile was one of great satisfaction. You can take this or leave it but it made me feel a whole lot better.

He also said that looking at the new scoreboard is difficult from up in the upper pressbox, have to bend over to see it.

Interesting. It just goes with what I have been thinking all along...no matter what happens, ISU will be OK. People give the media way too much credit and rely on those people way too much for information. I have taken the "I'll believe it when I see it" mentality through all this.

Hope you are right....

Dang, We should have made the scoreboard higher and bigger. 87 year old people need all the help they can get.

Works for me. I like the fact that JP and ISU have been very suspiciously quiet. Now, if they were out promoting ISU publicly, that would be cause for concern.

No offense but what else is he going to say? "Sorry, but we're completely ****ed."

Unless, Harkin and Grassley threaten to withhold farm subsidies from Big 10 states I don't think there is much they can do to ensure that ISU finds a good home.

It's not often that I would take comfort in something that is said by someone who is both of those things, but I do. Do they call that plausible deniability?

I know him well enough that if we were in deep ****, he would not be in the mood he is in today.......he wears his emotions on his shirt sleeve. But take it for what you will.

I just hope in the next day or 2 we get some announcements. This stuff has been simmering for almost a month.

seeing as Harkin is an alum and Grassley is a farmer, its a possibility. helps when your state has two of the most powerful senators

That is awesome to hear but for me it all comes down to if GG and JP can trust what they are being told from these other commissioners or presidents. I am assuming they feel they aren't being fed a line of bs but this whole thing is just so crazy, I wouldn't feel comfortable trusting anyone until something is signed, sealed, and delivered on paper.

I hope that whatever "agreements" are in place aren't pulled out from under us like Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown.

I'm not saying your guys know anything about anything, but considering JP has told fans to take their fingers off the panic button, and your guy saying change is good for ISU, and everyone in that suite, including people with a lot of power, are all smiles, it confirms in my mind that ISU will be just fine in all of this. Perhaps a stabilized Big 12. Perhaps the Big East. Perhaps, dare to dream, something bigger...

Starting our own conference called the Independent Conference. It will be BYU, Notre Dame, Army, Navy, ISU, and potentially Texas. :jimlad:
