My conference tidbit

I am also sorry you hate the Hawks. I cannot respond in kind, as I don't hate the Cyclones at any level. In reality, I think we should all save our hatred for the Huskers.

... Edit... One other thing I never do- disparage Iowa State University by referring to them in derogatory terms both in their actual moniker, or the initials of the school. By that I mean I won't use the equivalent of Hoks or EIU as it pertains to Iowa State.

Based upon the information that shows up stating that you graduated with an engineering degree in 1972, you most likely have been an Iowan longer than I have unless you graduated at 4 years of age. I cannot change time. My uncle was an aerospace engineering professor at Iowa State, so maybe your paths crossed at some point.

Again, all the best. I hope Coach Rhodes continues to restore the gains and growth that Chizik screwed up. Of course I want Iowa to win, but more importantly, I want both teams to leave the game with no nagging and/ or season ending injuries so that they can be competitive in their conferences. Since neither of us are likely to go undefeated, conference success is ultimately far more important than the outcome of this singular game.

Geez guys, can we lay off already? This guy genuinely seems like a respectful Hawk fan, the proverbial needle in the haystack. I want to beat Iowa as bad - and as badly - as anyone but I have no problem with respectful opposing fans.

Thanks for the support- here's hoping that we have a fun game tomorrow and both teams finish without major injuries.

That reads very much like a post on here yesterday morning. Bowen, Stoops and Pickens announced the downfall of the almighty king of the Big Xii ....... who just had to push it a bit too far. Texas will once again have reason to remember the Alamo :yes:. Greedy bastards are getting just what they deserve. And they won't have the balls to go independent.

This honestly is as big, if not bigger, of a concern than the athletic side. I don't think people understand how many research dollars, prospective students, jobs, etc. are potentially at stake here.

If we go Conference USA or whatever, that hurts our perception significantly, even on the academic side. It would probably be more of a long, slow decline rather than a lightning strike. But it certainly could happen.

100% Truth.

I came from WI to attend graduate school at ISU, and their level of academics and prestige played a big part in that decision. Inability to attract top quality students and professors will result in a downturn in the academics of the school.
