Since a few people requested it and I knew I could throw it together fairly quickly, I created a Big 12 football version of my basketball tiebreaker: http://bball.notnothing.net/big12.php?sport=fb

As usual, pick your winners in future games and see how standings are impacted.

This is currently Big 12 only, and it is not set up to handle situations with an unequal number of games (if there are COVID cancellations not made up). Changing either one of those would take a lot longer than the hour or so I spent getting this up and running, but will likely be done at some point in the not too distant future.

Please let me know if you see any issues, either with the tiebreaker calculations or with the website formatting changes. I made the formatting changes this summer to hopefully make it more mobile-friendly, although the nature of the site makes it a little difficult to make it truly mobile-friendly.

That Kansas State game is going to loom very large.
Agreed. I could see a scenario where Oklahoma wins out and there's a giant cluster of atleast 3 if not 4 (Okie St could easily drop a couple) two loss teams. We will need to get multiple tiebreakers and beating 2 out of 3 of them will do it.

Thanks this is fun!

So, Take the projections you have and change to have Texas win out, OU and Texas play for the title with 4 teams tied at 7-2!

We really need OSU to beat both K-State and Texas, and we need to beat K-State.

I am not sure the tiebreaking procedure, but if it is head-to-head first and/or your record against the "pod" in the cluster, then yeah, we will be sitting pretty if we have wins over Oklahoma and Kansas State.

I would like another shot at the Cowboys. They are a very good team, but not far ahead of us right now.

it’s basically the super bowl for both teams barring total collapse in the next few weeks from either side.

Really glad we have them in Ames this year.

I know it is a limited crowd, but even then, it makes a difference.

I certainly think it did against Oklahoma.

I do think the website is getting the correct results for this scenario, but I definitely need to dig into my code to see why the wordings of the final 1v2 tiebreaker and the final 3v4 tiebreaker are different. That shouldn't be happening.

1. Oklahoma (7 - 2) With Texas, defeated Okla St and Iowa St based on round-robin wins (2-1). Defeated Texas based on head-to-head record (1-0).
2. Texas (7 - 2) With Oklahoma, defeated Okla St and Iowa St based on round-robin wins (2-1). Lost to Oklahoma based on head-to-head record (0-1).
3. Okla St (7 - 2) With Iowa St, lost to Oklahoma and Texas based on round-robin wins (1-2). Defeated Iowa St based on head-to-head wins (1-0).
4. Iowa St (7 - 2) With Okla St, lost to Oklahoma and Texas based on round-robin wins (1-2). Lost to Okla St based on head-to-head wins (0-1).

Think K-State loses 4 of their next 5?

Yes. I think they lose to either WVU or Baylor and lose to ISU, Texas, and OSU. They have a tough schedule with a backup quarterback.
Yeah I'm not disagreeing either. I think they drop at least 2 more out of that stretch, one of them being to us.

Awesome, thanks for putting it together. I love following the Calculator during bball season, cool to have it available for football.

West Virginia could do us a huge favor by beating K State this weekend. That's a tricky game (WVU actually a slight favorite). Okie State needs to either win out or start imploding. We don't want them to drop a game or two. It's either all wins or just fall apart.

If they win all but OU, that's fine for us.

Ok. Missed that.

Still would bet 5 bucks he somehow comes back and plays lights out against us. Would only make sense.
I'm already preparing for that press release during game week.
